Description

CSC present for sale this Stunning 1988 928 S4 finished in Minerva Blue metallic with contrasting Linen Leather interior.

Minerva Blue is a historic 1970’s Porsche colour that made its claim to fame on the first generation 928. This Blue is a bright metallic or "electric" blue and it is named after the Roman goddess Minerva, patron deity of wisdom, poetry and crafts. How cool is that?

This stunning colour was removed from the standard paint options for the second generation 928 models in favour of mode subdued options, however thanks to Porsches ‘Paint to Sample’ programme any colour could be requested at additional cost and in the case of this 928, the original owner ordered the car in Minerva Blue.

Externally, the Bodywork of this car presents very well in its striking Minerva Blue with no major marks or blemishes and with straight & constant panel gaps all round and the 16-inch alloy wheels have no kerbing damage or major marking corrosion.

Standard exterior features of the 928 are the electrically operated sliding sunroof panel, the large rear spoiler and of course, those unique Pop-Up headlights.

Internally, the two-tone Linen and Metropole Blue works well with the exterior colour. The Linen leather seats feature matching Metropole Blue piping whilst the fitted floor mats are finished in Blue to add a touch of practicality.

All interior trim remains in genuinely nice condition with no major wear and just a light age-related patina to show for its 36 years. The car retains its original Blaupunkt Toronto radio cassette head unit along with the factory immobiliser system which still work and are nice period features.

One of the 928’s best features is its real-world practicality. The rear offers 2+2 seating (ideal for small children) and a rear luggage area which allows plenty of room for a trip away or even the weekly shopping trip. The rear seat back also folds flat to increase the luggage area even more for those longer trips.

At the front end of the car, the engine bay is extremely clean, tidy and in good order with original factory stickers still in place. The engine starts at the first turn of the key and idles smoothly.

On the road the car drives well with the smoothness, solidity and comfort you would expect from a large powerful GT. Power delivery is smooth and progressive as the 5. 0 V8 climbs up the rev range and up through the gears effortlessly.

Steering and brakes feel solid whilst being reassuringly smooth and progressive which inspires confidence and security on the road. This is a classic GT which feels ready to cover continents comfortably at speed and with no drama.

The current owner purchased the car privately on 18th March 1998 with the 928 having covered 58, 000 miles and have gone on to own and cherish this S4 for the last 26 years.

The 928 was used sparingly until 2014 when it was put into garage storage at the owner’s home for the best part of 10 years. In January 2024, the 928 was sent to Porsche specialists Ninemeister for recommissioning with a view to putting the car back on the road and ultimately up for sale for a new owner to enjoy.

The substantial Recommissioning work included: -
