For sale - Austin Seven special based on late 1938 Ruby. New rebuild inspired by the legendary Lotus 7. It has unique features of a flip up hard top to allow easy entry and one piece flip bonnet.
All parts are either new or refurbished as required.
Chassis is standard LWB with boxed channels.
Body is aluminium over a steel tube frame. GRP wings and nose.
Engine is a 3 bearing rebuilt to standard spec but with flattened cam followers. Reconditioned dynamo and distributor.
New aluminium radiator with thermo-switch fan and electric water pump.
Standard late 4 speed gearbox.
Rear axle is the heavy type with rod brakes. New rods, wheel bearings & brake shoes.
Front axle full rebuild with new brake cable and shoes etc.
Roof is steel one piece unit, looks like a hood with textured finish. Has external key lock and internal release with two safety catches. Hinges up on two gas struts. Works really well and definitely makes getting in and out less embarrassing. Good size boot space, approx 36" x 16" x 16".
New 12v battery. X5 new tyres.
Cockpit is cosy but has good head room and the pedals are adjustable length.
Other features - variable dynamo charging current, 12v and USB charger, lap belts, leather seats.
A very cheap to run classic car, tax and mot exempt, with the potential for further power tuning if that's your thing. All spare parts are available from numerous suppliers and A7 clubs.
