1977 Suffix D Range Rover

Older restoration carried out during 2012-2014
2-door Range Rovers has been on a steady rise over the last few years, they’re excellent. First launched in the early 1970s, and with an increased level of refinement for the old Land Rover ranges, they now have a great following.
It is with regret that VUY 21R needs a new home.
This particular example is an early 1977 model, First registered 1st Jan 1977 and a Suffix D.
Back in 2012 when I first acquired this Range Rover, It was the solid body and chassis that got my attention, from then It was subjected to a course of renovations, reconditionings and improvements,
Itis fitted with a later 3. 9 V8 (originally EFI which I still have) but now with a 4-barrel Holley Carb and Elderbrook air filter, it runs, drives and sounds amazingly, but it does still retains the charm of a true Range Rover externally, the car is finished in Artic White.
A re-spary was carried out in 2013 and chassis (although still very solid back then) was rubbed back, cleaned, checked and oiled. as well as being regularly oiled again and again over the years to this day.
All mechanicals were checked and sorted, brakes, suspension, car wiring tested and repaired as needed, new fuel tank and so much more,
In side there is the period correct Ambla Leather (cloth) seats (Not the usual Teddybear cloth ones) including the rear bench seat (a tear is present on the front drivers seat but easily repaired) see spares available.
All door cards repaired or replaced as well as pillar trims.
A full and original tool kit, tool kit cover and spare wheel cover are present.
A very unusual (believed to be correct) Range Rover roof rack also comes with the car
3-spoke correct steering wheel.
Mileage I'm afraid I cannot comment on, the speedo shows circa 115, 000 but as we know there has been an engine change, I am unsure of the mileage of the 3. 9 but its a sweet runner and welcome to inspection, it's always been well looked after by a very good local Land Rover Specialist.
This is not showroom condition, but still great for its age, a real useable classic and we've used for fun trips out with our family, it's a real head turner and the comments are amazing.
There is a great local "classic car road trip" "The Mendip Tour" an 80 miles gentle road trip with ends up on Wells Cathedral Green, by invitation its great fun, and which we have been present in for 4+ years and completed each one with no issues what soever,
Miles to the gallon as you would expect are not great, but who cares!
The front and rear bumpers are finished in the correct shade of silver whilst the front grille panel, wing mirrors, door handles and other trims are finished in black and correct for this Suffix.
The paint work is in good condition, there are a few areas that display some bubbling, orange peel and areas like the door handles which are lightly scuffed and could benefit from attention, the rear window external running trims will need replacement but these are easily available, however, these inclusions do not detract from the overall picture.
The wheels are the original ‘Rostyle’ steel wheels finished in the correct shade of silver and are wrapped in a new set of tyres.
Step inside and you’re greeted by a well maintained interior, there is no sagging roof liner as its been replaced recently, and the car benefits from a set of nicely originally trimmed seats. The central tunnel is carpeted and foot wells have the original rubber matting. The car retains its original three-spoke steering wheel.
Obviously there is some room for improvement, This is a good condition older restored classic car in a very usable state, it is by no means concours, but this is possibly what makes this car ideal as a useable classic.
A Range Rover is designed to be used, and the odd mark here or there will add to the story. To take the family on an adventure, with the split tailgate down to enjoy a spot of lunch.
Although not with a complete history, within my ownership there is a huge file of receipts and what has needed to be done to keep her running has, with no expense spared.
By Separate negotiation there is a mountain of spares.
Period correct V8 3. 5 Range Rover engine and gear box from a 1982 early 4-door with low mileage, turns freely.

I have recently sent the V5 away for a change of address, the recent MOT's can be checked on-line.

This car has been a passion for me over the last 12 years and will be a hard to say goodbye. With luck I can find the right next home for her.
