This 924 is a very light project and a great introduction to Porsche ownership.
Parts are very affordable from Euro car parts etc and makes a great alternative to
an MGB or Triumph for similar money.
The 924 starts easily and runs very nicely with good oil pressure. It revs freely and has no hesitation.
The clutch has a good action and the gears select.
The tyres need changing as they are cracked but the wheels are a very nice 15" alloy similar to
a Porsche cup wheel. (Spare is on the front currently).
Brakes work with a little drag that are getting better with use currently. There is no fluid loss and a
new set of brake pads are included in the sale. Hand brake working correctly.
Bodywork is exceptional in terms of rust, the rear boot corners are rock solid on both sides including the spare wheel well.
The nearside sill is perfect and the offside very good but may need a small patch. Doors close nicely.
The paint although a lovely colour is in need of attention. The paint itself is OK but the lacquer has lifted and bubbled. In some places
its good others not so. It can be rectified by light sanding to remove the lacquer and some cutting compounds etc. (Drivers door is perfect and all the paint below the waist line is exceptionally good however).
Interior is way above average. The carpet is clean, dashboard largely free of cracks, above average and the seats are close to perfect which is very unusual on a 924 (I was offered £700 for these alone). They are brown and tweed which looks expensive and a nice place to be. Steering wheel is maybe a Moto-lita 13" which suits the car well.
There is a lot of interest now in 924 models There has been a supercharger kit designed for the 924 which is available at reasonable cost and easy to install. It gives the same power as a 924 Turbo or 944, see you Tube for the results. That is the direction I am taking with my own 924 soon.
