Hello! I am looking to sell my 1985 BMW M535i with a 5 speed dog leg manual, in white. I've had the car for the past 5 years and it has been a joy to drive in that time.
Mechanicals
This car features an Alpina overhead cam and chip in the ECU. This has been combined with a Fritz Bits stainless steel exhaust which allows the engine breathe, happily roaring all the way up to the redline without feeling labored. The car has an LSD from the factory.
Lowered springs have been installed, alongside stronger anti-roll bars and polybushings all around to provide great handling feel. Rounding off the modifications are larger E34 front discs and calipers, giving reassuring stopping power compared to the original E28 brakes.
The car is a blast to drive at pace but is equally happy to cruise down the motorway.
All engine/ gearbox/ diff/ brake fluids have been flushed within the last 2k miles. Recent works include new distributor cap & rotor, HT leads & plugs, new alternator, new coolant expansion tank and replacement of several old coolant hoses, and new water pump. New fan visous coupling. The fuel tank has been off the car recently to fix a leak, and was resprayed plus all hoses and the fuel filter replaced.
Interior
The majority of the interior is original from the factory, with the black leather seats in great shape for their age. The head unit and speakers have been replaced with modern items & wiring, with the Blaupunkt Bremen unit matching the interior styling but providing DAB radio and bluetooth. A compact subwoofer is located below the rear bench seat.
In the boot, the air filter box for the fuel tank and all pipework has been replaced.
Exterior
The car features the Mtech bodykit from the factory. The paint is in reasonable condition, and the sunroof works without leaks. The Borbet B style wheels suit the cars profile and low ride height well.
History & Other Notes
The car comes with a second dashboard, as the intention was to fix up the second one and swap it with the current one which has the usual cracks.
There are some minor areas where the car needs attention; a small oil drip has developed around the sump gasket, and at the gearbox seal. I have both parts to fix these which will be included, but it does not impact the driving of the car. The car comes with a folder of paperwork from previous owners including the original log book. A search through MOT history will show the car has passed all recent MOTs and advisories have been fixed.
The car has had 8 pervious owners in its near 40 year life, but all have looked after it as can be seen in the photos attached.
