This car was manufactured in 1980 and registered in 1981 in Ireland. The car has been completely restored to its original condition and the car has been driven for 500km since full restoration. The car had three owners I was the second owner and now I own it again, it was gifted back to me so this was a work of love. The car was fully dismantled and rebuilt nut by nut. All worn parts replaced with new parts, the car was cleaned, restored and painted and galvanized according to the original parts.
Body
The body had major body repairs such as rear chassis legs replaced, and rear wheel arches inner and outer replaced, both left and right bottom side sills replaced with new steel sheet metal rust proofing and sealed, the front of the car has a new front panel, left and right inner front valances and new front left and right wings replaced .
Engine 1. 6 original engine.
Engine was removed and reconditioned, Cylinder head has new valves and new valve guides were fitted, short block had new rings and main and big end bearings replaced. A new water pump and timing belt fitted, new radiator with fan, new clutch pressure plate disc and bearing. All gear change bushings were replaced , a new clutch cable fitted , I also upgraded bulkhead repair for clutch cable.
Suspension front
Front suspension had all ball joints replaced and wishbone bushings replaced, new front struts replaced with new top strut bearings and mountings.
Steering
Both Tie rod ends replaced on steering rack and new rubber gatters, and steering
shaft rubber boot replaced.
Rear suspension
New rear struts replaced and rear subframe bushings replaced, rear subframe and anti roll bar power coated with new rubber bushings.
Brake system
New front brake discs and pads and rear brake shoes and new wheel cylinders, new hand brake cables, Steel and rubber flexi pipes replaced , Master cylinder replaced,
Wheels
Original Alloy wheels fully refurbished with new tyres
Fuel system.
Fuel tank
clean out and resealed with new fuel pump and filter, Fuel system recalibrated with new injector seals and guides.
Glass
Front screen replaced with rubber.
Sunroof
Sunroof cables replaced with new ones and new guides and bushings.
Interior
New sound dampening under floor carpeting. New VW cloth used for reupholstering on all original seats.
