Description
Japanese import (imported 2015, I am the second UK owner) 2004 Subaru Legacy wagon.
I really love this car, it is a fast, practical and comfortable family wagon. I can't keep it now I've got another Legacy wagon to use as a tow car.
Stand out from the SUV crowd with this!
- twinscroll turbo 2. 0 petrol engine
- Bilstein suspension (hence spec B)
- Remapped in 2019 by Duncan Graham (Racedynamix), 295bhp/ 355Nm engine (237 whp)
- 6 speed manual gearbox (from a UK wagon), fitted by Slowboy Racing
- Uprated clutch and single-mass flywheel conversion
- Brembo brakes front and rear
- Michelin PS4 tyres, good tread
- New cam belt fitted September 2024, good for 5 years
- lower tax rate than post-2006 cars
MOT pass on 7 Feb 2024, advisory for slightly cloudy headlights, and for slight play in offside rear wheel bearing. I've used a kit to sort the lights, and the wheel bearing has been replaced. Odometer reads 166, 480, which is a mix of km in Japan and miles in the UK. The engine was replaced in 2019 with a lower mileage import unit, and as of now the chassis has done ~125, 000 miles and the engine has done ~75, 000 miles.
The car was imported in 2015 by Prodrift in Kent. The JEVIC certificate on export shows the odometer at 101, 165 km, and when I bought it in 2019 the odometer read 144, 416. Looking at the MOT records this was recorded as a mixture of miles and kilometres, depending on the tester. I am the second UK owner.
On average the car returns around 29 mpg using 99 octane petrol (which all imports like this should use), which isn't bad for a nearly 300 bhp car. There is a strong owner community for these cars with a UK owners forum, Facebook groups, etc. Many parts are shared with UK models and with Subaru Impreza of a similar vintage, and there are good specialists around the country, so it's not difficult to maintain.
The biggest upgrades I've made to the car apart from the remap are fitting a six speed manual gearbox (from a UK Legacy 3. 0 wagon) and gold Brembo brakes all round (from an Impreza STI). I have changed the oil every year with Millers CFS 5w40 NT+ and OEM filter, and made some interior upgrades like fitting the electric leather front seats from a UK wagon, fitting a reversing camera and new screen, and the previous owner fitted a later steering wheel with controls for audio and cruise control. Probably many more little things I've forgotten!
This is a comfortable, fast and spacious "gentleman's express" that is equally at home blasting up a twisty B-road as it is lugging a wardrobe to the tip or cruising down the motorway for a family holiday.
Price is negotiable and viewings here in Kent are welcomed.
