Description
I'm selling my E plate TDR250. It's a matching numbers official UK import (which makes it more attractive to some than the later grey imports).
I've had it since late 2016 but haven't been able to use it the last 5yrs due to ill health. Consequently it's time to sell it. Whilst it has been stood for a while, I've had the carbs ultrasonically cleaned, new plugs fitted, new battery, fresh gearbox oil and coolant, and the oil pump case seal has just been replaced. I have managed to take it for a spin around the block, and once warmed up it pulled smoothly through the revs, and has the nice powerband kick you'd expect. It has a current MoT. It had a new reg/ rec in 2018.
Cosmetically it's in pretty good condition for a bike in its late 30's. Bodywork is original but repaired and resprayed, with exception of the front mudguard. It has a non-standard rear light, which I think suits the lines of the bike nicely, and period DEP cans.
It has a TZR250 aluminium swinging arm fitted, and a YSS shock (big improvement over the tired OE one). The dog bones are adjustable ones (two position) to give some rear ride height options.
The front brake caliper has been replaced with a blue spot, and the master cylinder swapped to a WR125 one so that the bore matches, to give good feel and stopping power. Levers are adjustable, non-standard, ones that gave me the reach I wanted.
The other obvious difference, to standard, is that it has Cagiva Mito/ Planet wheels fitted, which are a great addition in allowing sticky rubber to be used. It's currently wearing ex-race (road legal) scrubs.
The top end was refreshed in 2017 (rebore and new pistons from PJME), and it has a refurbished oil pump.
Bad points:
Front mudguard needs a respray
Seat needs recoveringThe TDR is a rare 80's two stroke which didn't sell in huge numbers at the time but has since developed a cult following. It's light weight, nimble, and has a traditional two stroke power delivery that makes for a fun and exhilarating ride.
