Country version. It is not a 100% genuine Gold Star so its price is not Gold Star either. The evocative name Gold Star has its roots firmly established in 1937, when, on June 30th, a specially prepared Empire Star 500 ridden by the great Wal Handley achieved a 100mph lap of the Brooklands circuit. For the achievement, the crew received a commemorative golden star from the British Motorcycle Racing Club. The rest, as they say, is history.

The M24 Gold Star was announced as part of the BSA range for 1938. Successor to the Empire Star, it was upgraded with an alloy cylinder barrel and ‘head, cast-in pushrod tunnel, Amal TT carburetor and Elektron gearbox casing. The frame was lighter too. The Gold Star Guarantee was that every engine would produce 28bhp. Produced in very limited numbers (298 for 1939), discontinued for the War and not reintroduced makes the charming M24 a rare and highly collectible machine.
