RESTORATION
Full nut & bolt restoration in 2012 stripped down to chassis and rebuilt.
Engine top end new valves , springs and coverted to run on unleaded fuel with hardened valve seats by Ivor Searle.
Valve Rockers re-machined by TL Engineering.
Radiator rebuilt, pressure tested and rechromed. New temperature sender.
Electric fan fitted.
All engine ancillaries including dynamo, carburreter stripped and refurbished.
Clutch plates relined and replaced carbon disc with thrust bearing.
New clutch release mechanism.
Meadows Gear Box rebuilt with new bearings and speedo drive by JB Engineering
Prop shaft new hardy spicer bearings.
Brake drums reskimmed where required.
New brake shoes & springs.
Replaced tyres.
Complete new wiring loom.
All guages refurbished by by Speedy Cables except speedometer.
Seats & doors re-upholstered with leather by Allon Whites.
Side & brakes lights are LED
Indicator lights fitted.
Ash frame in good order with new rear inner panels.
Complete body respray in period cellulose paint.

The Morgan 4. 4 was first introduced in January 1936 which was the first 4 wheeled vehicle the Morgan Motor Company had produced. Since that time development had proceeded and the 1937 model had many improvements, such as inclined pillar and phosphor bronze bushes on the front suspension and a Burman-Douglas steering box was fitted. Also the Coventry Climax engine had some refinements with overhead tappet adjusters, thermosyphon cooling system improvements, air cooled dynamo belt driven instead of a chain and the ignition distributer now independently driven by skew gears.
In 1938 this Morgan 4=4 Flat Rad. Roadster ELT 511 was one of the first Morgans to be supplied by the Winter Gardens Garage after relinquishing the Aston Martin Agency. At that time the Winter Garden Garage chief machanic Dick Anthony prepared a special Morgan 4-4 for the Le Mans for Prudence Fawcett. Geoffrey White, the Sales Manager at the Winter Garden Garage agreed to be her co-driver. As a private entry and sponsored by Lord Wakefield of Castrol Oils, the car finished 13th overall and gaining the prestigious Rudge Whitworth Cup.
ELT 511 was supplied by Winter Garden Garage, London at the same time as the Le Mans Special was being prepared. It had several owners during years of ownership and was restored around 1980 and specially prepared for Hill Trial Competitions with the owner Licenced by the RAC Motor Sports Council.
