Here is my 3 owner 55, 202 Miles but still going to shows so will go up 1968 2 Door Cortina MK2 Series 1 GT (1600GT) 1680cc 4 Speed Manual with Hydraulic Clutch, Servo Brakes. Very easy to drive if like me you would normally struggle with no power steering and a heavy clutch.* Tax and MOT Exempt**
She was a LHD Portuguese import (2018) 1300 De Luxe converted to RHD Now 1600 De Luxe on V5 in my name, never been welded other than 1 small plate and was White Originally. I do not know what work was done in the UK but have plenty of pictures and Videos of when I got the car. Tust me she is very Solid and fully treated!
Now running an Aldon Igniter Electronic Ignition in a Aldon Distributor and been told by other club members this engine has a Lumpy CAM but it’s unknown to me sound superb for a 4 pot.
I fitted a new 32/ 36 Carb as the old one was leaking (told possibly benefit from twin 40s or bike Carbs if that’s your thing?) I wanted reliability over power, she is quick enough as is for me. I have done quite a few things to her and if possible anything I have replaced or changed has been with better or an upgraded item but always kept what I have taken off if still functional or needed to put the car back to original. I fitted an Elec Facet Fuel Pump with Reg. and used the Barton blank with deflector plate and replaced all fuel lines front to back with modern stuff for super unleaded (Still contains Ethonal).
The Gearbox was removed (bullet 4 speeds or 2000E) to do Rear Crank Seal as was leaking so I replaced every seal on gearbox while out inc fresh oil obviously plus I have just done the Front Crank seal. Also the Sump which had to come off has the new self-sealing gasket type expands when wet.
Exterior is about as Close to the Alan Mann's CTC 24E MK2 as you can get bar leaving the GT badges on. Interior is to my own taste though inc, Alfa GTV Front Seats with Tilt for rear access which match the rear seats well. The original seats are now in a Cortina Club Members estate car so no longer available. Red retractable seat belts fitted and red Lap belts in rear. Still have the original loose belts.

Original Gauges bar water temp which again I have kept, with added GPS Speedo (Original still in use under dash showing 55k), AFR (O2 sensor in manifold) Oil Temp, Volts, Vacuum and Analog Clock (Capri) in a home-made Centre console with Arm Rest and Storage. (Again easy to remove if not your taste) Original Rev Counter (Which again I still Have and inc) would not work with electronic ignition so that too is aftermarket with adjustable shift light. I Have converted the wipers to two speed using Mk3 Escort Motor with a Single Wipe toggle switch on Colum and electric washer. Indicator stalk was broken so this was replaced with the shorter but same classic mini one that is less likely to get snapped (Common issue) getting in and out of the car. Opposite is the Radio/ Navigation/ Hands Free stalk and below the single wipe switch.
In short this is an extreamly solid car, fully Polly Bushed front and rear with, Small Sav Nav and Reverse Cam, mobile hands free, new Super Lights wheels with new Tyres, Gaz adjustable rear shocks with 2. 8 Capri Single Leaf on brand new shackles, MK2 escort Rack conversion with roller bearing top mounts, Mk1 Escort Column, New Steering Wheel, new 80amp Alternator (still got the old one inc), New High Pressure Oil Pump (Still have the old one inc), Cold Air feed to Carb, Fridge yes Fridge in Boot for cold cans at the shows!!, Super Small Sub speaker , 4-2-1 manifold into Sportex 2” twin box Exhaust system, New Brake Servo (still have the old faulty one), Front Discs as new no lip pads new rear shoes like new just cleaned and fully adjusted, Comtec Rocker Gasket, Coolex Alloy Radiator, Defender LED Lights, Ford Mustang Door Mirrors, new water pump with better fan but also electric fan backup which I have never needed to use!,... wait this is not short....:) I still have the Bumpers but had them body colour before removing the fronts are quarter bumpers with overrides. I can go on and on but way better to view the car as way too much to list!! Lots of Spare Parts included with sale.
Remember, the Decals/ Roundels etc will peel off as just vinyl.... she would then simply be in Alan Mann Lotus Colours.
Very well looked after and Maintained, she is still my pride and joy only for sale as now the twins don’t often want to go to the car shows, it’s just me and the missus.
I'm looking for my dream car, an AC Cobra V8 Replica next ideally Rover V8 powered but may be interest in others as a Swap or part ex Manual or auto.
She has the odd blemish as expected at 55 years old.
