Description

Thanks for looking at my advert. There's plenty of photos showing the car in various light to let you see the proper colour variations - it's not black! The HIW registration in the photos is mine and being retained. It will have V490AAN.

This is an above average condition limited edition (read further below) 996 Carrera 4 Tiptronic first registered December 1999 with 152k on the clock and an excellent service history (99% documented with receipts/ service book) . It’s had all important bits and pieces done over the years including IMS. Then in my ownership , fr and rear suspension/ top mounts, fr/ rear brakes/ pads , stainless lifetime guarantee exhaust, oil changes (annually) and so on. No advisories on MoT's for the last three years in my ownership.

I’m not going to embellish my description of how the car looks cosmetically or lead anyone to believe this is a museum piece or a garage queen, but rather tell it as it is. It is show worthy and is well admired. The wheels and tyres are blemish free. Bodywork is above average but has a few small scratches and a very very tiny dent on side panel (not even able to photograph it to show it up , that’s how small it is). Paintwork is still stunning - photographs try to replicate but fail in certain light. Interior is as good as any 25yr old 996 - photographs should give that impression - it’s not like new but it’s very very good with no tears. The car is as it left the factory save for the new stainless exhaust.

For full specification please check details on the screenshots given to me by the supplying main dealer.

Just to be open and honest, I had this car for sale recently and had interest in it. However, the enquirers realised that (1) they had to sell something first or (2) they couldn’t get the money together in the end or (3) they discovered the car was located in Northern Ireland so that was an issue - I brought it from mainland UK - there aren’t any of these in Northern Ireland (I reckon if you really want a car you’ll travel) and (4) the import duty or VRT to ROI is too much…..

So, if you’re seriously interested and want to buy into some real automotive history, give me a call.. If you are from mainland - our airport/ ferry terminals are a max of 40mins away and I can collect. The car won’t disappoint you. I've sold quite a few Porsche cars over the years and those who come to view say I understate in my adverts - that's a good thing as I've been less than impressed when I'm on the other side of the buyer/ seller situation. But remember, if you want a regular C4 Tiptronic, this is probably not for you. If you think it is, please read on for further details. Some cars are collectable by their unique style/ engineering/ performance or some other characteristic. . even because of who has owned them!

Still others are rare and collectable by their place in history - produced to celebrate an event perhaps.

Porsche has a history of producing such vehicles - a car made to celebrate a decade, a timeline, an event or even a place (Le Mans for example) and given appropriate mechanical upgrades to boot.

No other manufacturer however, produced a car to mark the start of the new millennium ( I stand to be corrected perhaps). The biggest global event in recent history (remember all the Y2K stuff and preparation for this?)

Porsche stood unique in 1999 - and for the model year 2000, they produced a limited (34 in UK) run of their best known car - the 911 - in Carrera 4 Coupe form only. Indeed they limited the run to 911 worldwide with the exclusive body colour (never preceded or repeated) known as violet chromaflair) sitting on lovely chromed 18’’ Turbo alloys.

This is what they said at the time (excerpts taken from Porsche literature of the time) “ The Porsche 911 for the millennium: its place in the future is as secure as its place in history……….. over four decades…………it has become one of the most successful models in the history of sports car………the spiritual ties to its ancestry are still firmly intact, validating the genius of the original 911 concept………As we race into the new millennium ……it is only fitting that we commemorate this unique moment in world history…. The Porsche 911 for the millennium combines the world’s most advanced all-wheel drive system with the incomparable feel of the 911’s classic rear-engine layout………Endowed with most of the available options (electric seats/ PCM/ PSM/ LSD/ Litronic/ washers/ aircon and more) in the standard 911 range, this is, without question, one of the most exhilarating - and most exclusive - road cars we have ever built…………….. Let the fireworks begin…………………but they don’t have to end on January 1…………….”

And that’s how it was back in 1999 as Porsche announced this millennium edition 911 with the UK getting just 34 of them. Each dealer was allocated one or two only as I recall. Belfast was allocated one and my car is it - number 98.

Fast forward nearly 25 years and, without rose-tinted glasses, how does this car sit amongst its peers?

If you want a car which has been upgraded with more horses, this is not it (the 40th Anniversary version is where you’d look). This is simply an honest C4 in Tiptronic guise with LSD and M030 suspension.

What’s the appeal then and why would you pay a premium for this 911? Firstly, in 1999 it commanded a premium over standard editions. Secondly, it can and will only become more expensive in years to come based upon rarity alone. It's one of those forfotten cars in Porsche history. So depending upon your appreciation of automobile history and if it’s something you would like to buy into (pun completely intended) this is unique in the world of mainstream car manufacturing…….. an edition of car already hailed as an icon by anyone with petrol in their blood, a car to celebrate planet earth’s move into the second millennium, then this could well suit you at a reasonable price (for now). There were only 34 UK spec RHD cars

If you're now interested or still interested, pick up the phone and talk to me, make me a sensible offer around the asking price. Many thanks for looking.
