Description

1998 Alpina B10 V8 (4. 6) : No. 388

Finished in a stunning colour combination of metallic Oxford Green paintwork with gold Alpina Deco stripes, and sand beige extended leather with contrasting green piping. This B10 has just turned 118k miles and is supported by a continuous service history throughout it’s 26 years. This is a very special Alpina.

This is an early non-vanos/ real throttle cable example of Alpina’s hand-built quad cam 32 valve motor known as the F3. It consists of Alpina spec crankshaft, camshafts, pistons & headwork and exhaust system. Just 51 RHD examples were sold. This offers 340bhp and torque to match through the 5 speed ‘Switch-Tronic’ gearbox. I believe this is just 1 of 2 finished in Oxford green.

The B10 is now LEZ/ ULEZ compliant with the CoC purchased from Alpina.

The car had a very generous specification from new with some costly options ticked. These include; double glazing, rain sensor wipers, Xenon headlights, Electric Glass tilt/ slide Sunroof, Comfort Electric & heated seats, rear side blinds & electric rear blind & power folding electric/ heated door mirrors. The M5 front brake caliper option was also ticked. The usual climate control, ABS, switchable stability control, power steering, central locking, BMW ‘business’ CD player, cruise control, comfort access etc.

There is no rust or dents and the interior is superb with just a small amount of patina. The dash/ door cards are either cream leather or contrasting dark green with dark green carpeting which is literally unmarked thanks to the original factory Alpina floor mats with Alpina striping. The boot area is again in lovely condition with no foreign object damage or stains and the genuine Alpina boot mat completes.

The details!

The B10 was supplied from Sytner Leicester in October 1998 and has its full book pack & supporting documentation in the original leather wallet with 20 service stamps including a running service at 1776 miles by Sytner Leicester. There is an A4 leather history file with years of supporting bills & documentation up to the present day, the full tool kit & torch are present as is a full size Alpina spare wheel.

Within the last 13 months/ 1500 miles the car has had nearly £9000 expenditure. All suspension components have been re-newed. That work consists of all suspension arms, subframe bushes, drop links, anti-roll bar bushings, ball-joints etc. New original BMW bolts were also used to fit everything back together and parts fitted were either genuine BMW, Lemforder, TRW or Febi Bilstein. All of these were fitted by Rob @ RD Motorsport on the outskirts of Edinburgh. At the same time, Rob fitted £4000 worth(!) of Supersprint extractor manifolds, connected to Supersprint connecting pipes with brand new (Bosch) O2 sensors. These were then fabricated onto the original Alpina factory cats and exhaust system. It sounds absolutely lovely whilst still being very ‘Alpina’ & discreet. He also completed a coolant change, fitted HEL carbon braided flexi lines and a proper 4 wheel alignment sat on his motorsport baskets.

Within the last 500 miles, genuine OE Sachs dampers were fitted front and rear together with genuine BMW top mounts, spring pads, bump stops & gaiters. These were all supplied from Barry @ BMR Performanceat a cost of over £2200.

The car now drives as close to factory fresh as you might achieve at 26 years old.

Other notable big items already completed over the years are the head gaskets by Munich Legends (lots of various jobs/ services completed by them in the past), a wheel refurb by Lepsons (wheels remain unmarked) together with new wheel centre badges, and the sills repaired through HPC classics prior to my purchasing the car. Miles @ HPC is very knowledgeable about the car and is happy to talk about the car to prospective buyers.

Within the last 4000 miles the car has had 4 oil changes (either Motul or Millers), new BMC air filter, new pollen filters, ATE discs and ceramic (low dust) pads to the front, Brembo discs/ pads on the rear, new (genuine) old stock front undertray, genuine BMW idle control valve, 2x genuine BMW TPS sensors, sump gasket & top coolant hose. Bilt Hamber under body wax has been used into the sills and into all the wheel arches and crevices. Lots of other little jobs have been completed over my tenure.

Prior to those works, new spark plugs, new (Bosch) coil packs and other little tasks were carried out. An advisory free MOT was completed in July of this year and lots of previous MOT certificates are in the file.

It is garaged all the time and sorned over winter. Lots of pictures available both underneath, on top and inside for any genuinely interested parties. Beautiful colour, spec and great history.
