Description

After 10 glorious years of ownership, the longest I've ever had a car, impending retirement is forcing a re-think of my classic car collection and the time has come to part with my treasured 1965 Mustang.

Sourced through a reputable importer in 2014, I chose this example as is was straight, rust free and in a great colour combination and specification. Clearly cared for in the US, this San Jose example had spent much of it's life in California so the paint and vinyl roof were scorched but otherwise it was wonderfully original even down to a newspaper dated 1973 under the passenger seat.

I chose to keep the original steel blue over white colour scheme and local specialists Woodlands Autos completed the repaint over 9 years ago, preserving the original spot welds and much of the patina to the underside of both bonnet and boot. The paint is still bright and glossy, the vinyl 'Everflex' style roof still perfect and all of the trim is in very good condition including the rare hub caps.

The interior was treated to a set of new, original spec white metallic seat covers, the carpets and the rest of the trim is original and in good condition - not perfect but with the right amount of patina. The original radio is there, and works, plus am 8-track player. It has the rare full centre console.

Mechanically, it is spot on having had a sympathetic refresh by the Mustang Workshop who also fitted an OE spec Scott Drake disc brake conversion, Pertronix electronic ignition and a new 4 barrel Holley, the gearbox was refreshed and the front suspension set up properly. As a result, the 289 motor runs beautifully and it pulls like a train. I'd happily drive the car anywhere.

My family and friends have enjoyed the car with regular trips to Goodwood, a wedding and several proms but now feels like the time to pass it on to someone else to appreciate. Its relatively compact dimensions make it easy to live with and you soon get used to left hand drive.

There's a short video walkaround of the car here: - details above

An outright sale is preferred but talk to me if you have something interesting. I'm in no rush to sell and will ignore idiots and silly offers, apologies to the genuinely interested.

Payment and collection within 5 days unless otherwise agreed.

Thanks for looking.
