Description
1974 Mk 111 Jensen Interceptor for sale
My Mobile no is the details below text 1st.
Car price £28, 000.
It lives in our heated garage directly attached to our house. We are now in the middle of selling our house and downsizing to a new build on the coast. The new single garage will not be big enough to properly house the Interceptor and so it is up for sale.
I appreciate most people looking at this advert for my Jensen Interceptor, will know that it is of Italian design, powered by the American Chrysler V8 7. 2 litre engine and built in the West Midlands. They have leather interiors power steering and air conditioning (renewed and working in my case).
The car is, in my opinion, one of the style icons of the period and is akin to a sculpture on wheels. This is my second Jensen Interceptor which I bought 3 years ago and have been repairing and upgrading since. (My 1st was a MK1 FF many years ago that is now in a private car collection).
Significant restoration work has been carried out over the years, including a full respray, mechanical overhauls, and interior refurbishments. In my opinion this Interceptor is in really good condition compared to many. It’s not pristine but it is a turn key car.
1. It doesn’t have cooling issues as it has upgraded fans with a soft start controller but also has the modified head gasket that is recognised as one of the best improvements for engine cooling.
2. it has unleaded cylinder heads with hardened valve seats meaning you can use todays fuels without tge worry of damaging tge cylinder head valves or using additives.
3. It has an upgraded electric pump fuel supply which resolves fuel vaporisation issues and ensures easy starting so no more constant churning of the engine waiting for it to start or drain tge battery. 4. It has a brand new FenAir, air conditioning system installed which works, giving cold air to interior and making for comfortable summer use
5. It has the upgraded high torque starter motor which is more effective and lighter than the original
6. It has the upgraded Mitsubishi style alternator ensuring more than adequate charging,
7. It has a new reconditioned power assist steering rack so back to the original smooth steering effort
8. It has the recommended upgrade of good quality cold air inlet hoses in the engine bay, these hoses are a big advantage to provide maximum benefit to the engine breathing.
9. It has the S4 contact breakers which are an improvement on the old fuses.
Finally, it is used regularly and without any problems.
Issues that I know about are bubbling on the bonnet (there at time of my purchase and hasn’t changed since.) passenger side corner of rear valance has old rust issue, the curtesy lights do not work and passenger window needs help occasionally to close. Otherwise I think every thing works including all the vacuum operated heating system, lights, fans instruments (clock as well).
Underside and inside cills etc have all been rust treated using either Dinitrol 3125 or Bilt Hamber Dynax S-50 and there is no sign of any significant corrosion. Please refer to my 80+ YouTube videos of the work I have done on the car, so there should be no surprises if you buy it. The car is 50 years old and will undoubtedly need care and attention as time goes by but they are cars with simple engineering.
There is a fairly large file on this car and includes photos of the car being upgraded to S4 specification with new door handles, electric door mirrors, louvred bonnet and circuit breakers (cf standard fuse box) at Jensen Motors.
