Description

In 1933 Lagonda set out to make the finest small car on the market. Utilising a jewel of a dohc engine and the best available components they succeeded in that aim and this exceptionally pretty Lagonda Rapier Abbott Tourer is the result.

Resplendent in Oxford Blue, the paintwork is excellent. The weather equipment is all virtually new while the contrasting dark red interior has just the right degree of patination. The bright work has all been replated in recent years.

Mechanically the car is in first class condition with a complete engine rebuild having been carried out in 2006 by John Batt. The pre-selector gearbox has been rebuilt by Bill Morris and the car has been re-wired.

Originally supplied by Patrick Motors of Birmingham in July 1934 and registered AOF 275, the Lagonda was resident in the Isle of Man from 1947 to 1955. On its return to the UK, it was given the registration 956 FME which it wears to this day. All history is recorded back to 1947.

The car is in standard specification and as a result runs and drives very sweetly.

The heart of the car is the dohc engine which loves to rev. The steering and brakes are excellent and the gearbox is a delight to use. This all makes the Lagonda a rapid car for its size and which can hold its own in modern traffic.

The original solenoid dipping headlight internals come with the car along with much documentation and invoices.
