2003 Ford Focus RS

Original Mk1 Ford Focus RS

I have owned this Focus RS since 2010 having purchased it from a private seller and it has been a pleasure to drive and be a custodian of a piece of automotive history.

This Focus RS, number 2705 of 4501, was registered in November 2003 and has spent its time in the South East of England, having several owners and myself being the longest. I have owned several RS's over the years, but this has to have the most driver engagement of them all that I have owned. It is original and had some slight modifications over the years to enhance the drive and look of the car.

There is a stainless exhaust and decat fitted, along with an induction kit and Superchips remap, with the standard one still on the device.
Inside I added a Sony head-unit to replace the standard so there was a USB/ iPod capability in the car, also a Scangauge was fitted to monitor the engine parameters that the standard dash did not show.
Outside there are rear US style lights and a front splitter to the lower part of the bumper, using the original Ford fittings.

All these can be retro-fitted to standard easily, to make the car as it left the factory.

There are some stone-chips on the bonnet and front bumper, a common issue on the Focus RS, due to the way it was built by hand from a standard road car. There is also a chip on the o/ s/ f wing and the standard alloys are in need of a freshen up, but all the bodywork and wheels are as they left the factory.

The car has been used little since the pandemic, it was always dry stored and after a few years of it being SORN'd, I had it recommissioned by a ex-Ford technician and he has looked after it since. It always passes an MOT with no issues and gets many comments about the condition of the car for its age.

Over the 14 years I have owned the car, it has covered 9000 miles and has been fault free apart from new coil packs fitted when it was not used during the pandemic.
There are new front Brembo discs and pads fitted in the last year and tyres too. This Focus RS was first purchased by a speculator in 2003 from Lifestyle Ford in Tunbridge Wells, and had the car for only a short while as the car was then in Dorset the following year. Just a year later it was back in Kent as a RS Owner Club member had purchased it in February 2005 and was a member of the Kent group, by this point it had covered nearly 8000 miles.

It was then part-exchanged at Hayes Bros in Maidstone and owner 4 bought it from there in 2006 and added a private plate the year later, it was now D2 DNA. The owner then upon reaching his 50th birthday, decided to sell up and it was then in 2010 located in Surrey.

The last owner had the RS for just 3 months, as he had been in a friend's TVR and decided he wanted one for himself, so he advertised the car and I purchased it in May 2010 with 37, 000 miles on it.

I have kept 2705 for 14 years, the longest car I have owned, it has been a joy and privilege to be a custodian of such a piece of automotive history. But I just don't have the time I get to use it much now, and that means it needs to go to someone who has the time to appreciate it and show it off as it should be.
