Description

Jaguar SS Style MkIV 2 door coupe.
It is an exceptional one-of-a-kind Jaguar. Built upon a MkIV 4 door saloon chassis, first registered on 28th August 1947, as verified by Jaguar Heritage. By shifting the bulkhead/ windscreen back he built a Jaguar very similar to the one-off designs undertaken by Jaguar in the 1930/ 40’s, with the equally beautiful Airline Coupes. The Jaguar sits upon its original Jaguar Chassis, retaining axles, bumpers, brakes and wheels. It has however been uprated in many other areas. A later 3. 4 Jaguar engine and 5 speed gearbox have been fitted, along with Power Assisted Steering, making it a much more manageable car in modern day traffic. So, one benefits from all the elegance of a unique 1940’s Jaguar, offering the “Grace, Space and Pace” in a one-off design. The twin mounted spare wheels add an extra sense of grandeur. Then the Jaguar has the added benefit of being adapted for twin fuel; both Petrol and L. P. G.. The removable hard top then gives the joy of classic open driving.
To sum up, a unique Jaguar, built upon an original Jaguar chassis, using genuine Jaguar parts. More authentic than many of the other modern-day options!
Who owned and who built the Jaguar? Brain Astor Dodds, M. M.. Who was Brian Astor Dodds? Ex S. A. S. earning his M. M. in Borneo. Then he did Diplomatic Protection in Beirut, followed by years as a Game Keeper in Africa. These last two positions are covered in detail by a Book he wrote called “Say Goodbye to the Elephants.” A signed copy comes with the Jaguar. It is a gripping story, as good as any James Bond Novel. His last position before taking on the build of the Jaguar was as, Head of Security for Dodi El Fayed. A position he held for years until shortly before Princess Diana’s fatal accident in Paris. Brian had the Jaguar in long term ownership for 30+ years.
During my ownership the Jaguar has been totally rewired, had a custom-made exhaust system, the drum brakes all refurbished, a new petrol tank, the LPG system checked and overhauled, along with carburettors rebuilt and balanced. The wheels and tyres are all in excellent condition as is the bodywork and interior. Chrome work is very good.

This car drives like a 1940’s car, do not expect it to be any way comparable to a modern car!Unique one of a kind Jaguar SS Style 2 door Coupe. Who owned and who built the Jaguar?
