VEHICLE OVERVIEW:
This is a rare iteration of the model. Because it has its original skinny wing mirrors, one piece rear side windows; because it has just had over £5K of (itemised) expenditure on servicing and repairs. This FJ40 has been comprehensively refurbished, refreshed and restored with an eye to keeping as much of the original car as possible.
It is currently showing 90, 799 kms on the odometer and it drives very tight, being reassuringly free of any unwanted squeaks, rattles or clunks.
It displays all the competence you would want and expect when it comes to starting, accelerating, handling and stopping. Stand out difference compared to most other FJ40s. This Land Cruiser has been seriously fine tuned.
All in all, it’s an excellent example of an FJ40 Land Cruiser and you would struggle to find anything comparable for the asking price.
This particular example has the benefit of front disc brakes, locking front 4WD hubs, power steering and air-conditioning.
EXTERIOR:
The bodywork is very straight and true, and there are no notable dimples, dinks or dents. The under body is solid and impressive.
All the original and new headlights, tail lights, signals, reflectors, badges and chrome hub caps really make a difference to the fresh look.
Fitted with the desirable 16" tubeless steel rims and 5 matching Bridgestone tyres with plenty of tread.
The shut-lines and panel gaps are crisp and consistent. The car’s red paintwork has a little patina to it in places but is mostly vibrant and lustrous wherever you look.
There are some minor spots of nascent bubbling on the bottom of one door and a few light scuff but all very minor. Overall the body work is excellent and shows the vehicle has been well stored by its previous owners.
The glass is good everywhere, save for the odd light scratch, and all other external fixtures and fittings are good, too.
INTERIOR:
The interior is in excellent condition showing off clean upholstery and bulk new genuine interior trims and accessories. The door cards are new and the original headliner is very tidy.
All dials, instruments, levers and controls are good.
New gear knobs, floor mats, sun visors, interior door handles, instruction plate, and so on.
Remove the floor mats to see a solid and clean floor. The original back seats can be folded upright when you have large items to transport.
MECHANICAL:
The engine bay as a whole is spectacularly clean, shiny, dry and tidy.
Inside the engine bay you’ll find a healthy and well-serviced 4230cc 6-cylinder 2F engine.
You’ll also find new oil and filter, fuel filter, fuel hoses, fuel lines, clamps, spark plugs, leads, coil, distributor, rocker gasket, water pump, fan belts, thermostat, radiator hoses, serviced radiator, manifold gaskets, and a rebuilt carburettor just to scratch the service.

Elsewhere, you’ll find a rebuilt 4x4 gearbox with a new clutch kit, slave and master.
The brake system - discs at the front, drums at the rear - has been fully overhauled and rebuilt. There are new inner and outer bearings and hub seals all round. The suspension features Bilstein shocks, new tie rod ends, and new shackle bushes, and galvanised shackles.
Underneath the car you’ll find bulk galvanised underbody hardware and solid floors and chassis.
The car comes with plenty of bills and receipts covering work done to get it into this fine condition.
The vehicle is not yet registered but the MoT certificate is valid until 21. 7. 25. You will be the first owner in the UK.
