1985 Mk. 2 Ford Granada 2. 8 Ghia X (Carb), Estate in Diamond White For Sale. (C848 TLN)
I’m reluctantly offering my Mk. 2 Granada for sale, following 12 years of ownership and enjoyment.
I need the garage space for other projects, hence the need to pass this much loved car on to a new owner, for them to enjoy, and take to the next phase of its life.
I bought the car in October 2012, from a dealer in the Stoke area, with a recorded mileage of 48, 242.
I am the fifth keeper since new, and I will give below a history of the car, during its 39 year life.
I have a folder containing a wealth of paperwork, including MOTs and some Tax Discs, this paperwork is great provenance of the previous ownership, and warrants the extremely low mileage the car has (or has not!) covered since new.
The car was registered on 2nd October 1985, by the Ford Main Dealer, Dees of Croydon, to ‘Persons Unknown’.
When the car was approximately 2 years old, it was sold to a gentleman in the Bushey area of Watford, Herts.
It then went into the ownership of a gentleman in Wendover, Tring, Herts.
Then, the ownership was taken over by a gentleman in Prescot, St. Helens, Merseyside.
I became the latest custodian in September 2012. The car is now located in the Tyne & Wear area, and has been in a dry home garage for the entire time I have owned it. I’m certain it has also been garaged by previous owners, as the seat fabric is so vivid, and still has the full depth of colour, with no fading at all, a good sign that the car had been protected from UV damage.
Whilst in my ownership, the car has had a new exhaust system, 4 recent tyres – (14 inch, NOT the much more expensive TRX), a new alternator, new water pump, and a complete professional gearbox rebuild.
The rebuilt cost approx £1000, and new bands / plates were fitted. It operates really smoothly, gear-changes are perfect, and kick-down works just as it should.
The car has only covered approximately 100 miles since the rebuild in 2019, has been started regularly and is currently been driven regularly. I has a very recent MOT, with only minor advisories consistent with its 39 years of age.
The Air-Con does not work, and it never has during my ownership, as the compressor is seized and drive belt removed. These cars are becoming so rare now, especially those in such original and unmodified condition.
All of the electrics work, including the seat motors and window motors.
They are steadily increasing in value too, a much appreciating, rare classic, and becoming sought after!
It never fails to turn heads when being driven, it attracts so much attention at the dozens of shows and events I have attended, and always receives some really amazing and flattering comments.
