Little Orange is unexpectedly back on the market, I only bought him in May but sadly something’s happened and Little Orange is going to have to be sold. In the few months I’ve owned him I’ve only covered 500 miles, the odo at the moment reads 60050miles, he’s had a newly reconditioned gearbox fitted at Peak 2cv, he’s just had an oil change.
I recently went on a 100 mile return trip to Manchester and he performed faultlessly.
The new owner will be offered to takeover the little orange Facebook page that has 1500 followers.
Below is the advert the previous owner wrote when I bought the car which I thought was a fair and truthful appraisal.
'Little Orange' was restored by Toby Kilner - 2CV Adventures - in 2016. He transformed it from a tired, French-built, blueberries and cream Dolly into its current quite wondrous orange, grey black.
A new galvanised chassis, Harley coils, 123 electronic ignition, side exiting exhaust and new Matts Soft Tops roof were added.
I bought it in 2017 and drove it to the world meeting in Portugal that year (only from Santander - shhh!). Since then this car has been featured in the press many times and is well known within the Citroen community.
It has a bluetooth stereo and speakers and twin 12V power outlets, all professionally fitted.
The chassis is solid - everything still works as it should - even the fuel gauge. It's ready to drive away and begin adventuring again.
It's showing a mileage of 59558 (I've done about 17, 000 miles) and believe this to be true. It still has original 602cc twin cylinder air-cooled engine.
From a distance it looks superb. Look more closely and you'll notice a few crusty bits here and there.
It is NOT a concourse car. It IS an honest, reliable, useable car that will put a smile on your face.
A year after I bought it, I was lightly rear-ended by a van. Insurance paid-out and Little Orange was soon looking good again. Unfortunately the professional bodywork company did not apply the paint properly. It soon began to chip and flake off. Just before the paint shop could correct their mistake poor Little Orange was the victim of a hit and run in a supermarket car park. This dented the rear left wing and rear bumper.
I have bought a brand-new bumper and rear wing and will include these in the sale. The rally sticker (I was the photographer, not a competitor) on the boot will not come off without lifting the flakey paint. For the time being I have painted-over some of the offending areas to make it look a little less offensive. I brush-painted it in the dark with my eyes shut!
So when the new wing and bumper is added the boot lid and surround will also need repainting orange. This was next to be done on my list of jobs but I ran out of time...
Little Orange is currently running four Mud and Snow Vredestein tyres. Today's photoshoot dandelion field was very slippery but these tyres make this car almost unstoppable. I will include a set of road tyres - two almost new Michelin X and a pair of part-worn Toyos (one is on brand new spare rim in boot).
Perfect cars are currently being advertised for almost £13, 000 so Little Orange - crusty bits and dents and all - is priced very appropriately.
The car is near Ashbourne, Derbyshire and can be driven away
