Lotus Excel, early narrow body in great condition with only 91000 miles.
For the 1984 model year the Lotus excel had new features such as body coloured bumpers, louvered bonnet, boot spoiler and 8 spoke wheels (from the Toyota Supra). This car is the show car from the Earls Court Motor show in October 1983 and was used to promote these new features.
`The following optional extras were fitted when new: Metallic silver paint, air conditioning, and half leather trim.
The air-conditioning is still fitted although it will need to be re-gassed.
Body wise the car is in good condition, there are a few stone chips as would be expected for the age of the vehicle but overall it looks very smart.
The interior is in great condition, the only area that requires repairing are at the top of the seats due to sun damage.
The engine runs really well, it has always been regularly serviced by myself using Valvoline 20w 50 oil and Lotus filter. For a 2. 2 it has a surprising amount of torque and revs well as you would expect.
The gearbox and differential both had an oil change two years ago and work well with no whine from either when driving.
Technically the car is MOT exempt, however when the MOT runs out in October I will get it re-tested.
I have had the car since 2010, it has always been garaged in my ownership (and with the previous owner to me), it drives well and I have really enjoyed the ownership experience. My reason for selling is that I fancy trying a TVR.
