Description
1979 Mini Thousand
998CC, Manual gearbox painted in Russet Brown.
81, 500 miles
This is my ever reliable Mini which has been used most days for the past 2 years. It’s been a joy to drive but house move forces sale.
The mini has its original 998CC engine although rebuilt with high compression pistons and the 12G295 “Big Valve” cylinder head from a Sprite / Midget.
It has also been fitted with a HIF44 carburettor (Hs4 standard) and twin port exhaust manifold.
It’s not powerful, but it’s more than enough for a Mini and returns excellent MPG.
Both subframes have been powder coated with all new suspension bushes and bearings, Hi-Lo trumpets and cones with new shock absorbers.
The front brakes have been changed to the Cooper specification 7. 5” disc brakes to fit inside the 10” wheels with new Falcon tyres all round.
The body is showing its age in the usual mini problem areas with rust starting through the paintwork on the A pillars, around the headlights and roof gutters.
The paintwork is in an ok condition. There is fish eyes in the paint across most of the body with exception of the doors and bonnet which were painted at a different time.
The roof panel has some dents.
The doors have been reskinned and new glass and rubbers used.
The seats have been changed to Rover 820 Vitesse Recaro seats which are hugely more comfortable than the originals, although installed using the existing seat mounting points. The originals will be sold with the car.
Headlining is showing age with a tear on the passenger’s side.
The radio does work, but I normally use a bluetooth speaker as the tapes get repetitive.
Front windscreen is a heated unit, which is a must-have in cold conditions as it de-mists instantly before the heater warms up!
Car comes with a new spare wheel and the original jack.
More photos can be sent across if needed.
Thanks
