Description
TVR 3000M Full body off professional restoration, costing over £50k.
I purchased this 1977 3000M in April 2017 after owning a similar car in 1987. Whilst this car was a reasonably running vehicle there was clearly some room for improvement, in that the bodywork had been poorly repainted, it had the usual chassis issues, the interior was tired, the wiring was dangerous and the mechanicals required a complete overhaul.
In Sept 2017 the Body-shell was removed from the chassis. All mechanical components were disassembled and the chassis was shot-blasted. The outriggers were replaced and chassis zinc primed and then powder coated- RAL 7001 grey. The Suspension was rebuilt with new poly bushes, adjustable Gaz shocks absorbers, brakes & brake lines, hubs, bearings etc. both gearbox and Salisbury differential cleaned and refurbished.
The bodyshell was completely stripped revealing no signs of previous accident damage. 100s of hours and £££'s were spent to ensure perfect shut lines and a beautiful paintwork finish. The door & window frame mountings have been strengthened to ensure longevity. The original Webasto sunroof was deleted and the body-shell repainted in Porsche Grand Prix White (L907). The underside has been finished in Raptor and painted body colour. The Original glass was retained.
The engine was fully rebuilt, new pistons, valves etc. heads ported. Fast Road Camshaft and Triple Weber DCNF 40 carbs and Rick Wood Manifold making this a very lively driving experience.
All wiring and electrical components were replaced, new wiring harness, new fuse board, electrical components refurbed or replaced with new old stock to ensure everything works as it should.
A Full Stainless Steel exhaust and manifolds have been fitted, along with custom tailpipes. The original 'T' slot alloys were diamond cut and Michelin MXV tyres have been fitted.
The interior has been tastefully and very expensively retimed in a combination of black Nappa leather and black Alcantara trim, including; seats (with new foams) headrests, headlining, door cards, dashboard, centre console, sun visors, steering wheel, all finished off with subtle red stitching and black carpets.
All in all this has been a meticulous 7 year restoration to almost concourse standard, over £50k has been spent making this rare 3000M (only 654 made) an absolutely stunning car.
