Description
Good day and welcome to the sale of my 1983 Daimler Sovereign 4. 2 Series 3.
A quick summary:
- I have owned this since lockdown in 2020, it was bought as a decent car with a failed head gasket.
- Engine was removed, stripped down and rebuilt with any worn parts replaced, it has covered a few hundred miles since.
- It currently runs, drives and stops but the interior is in a million pieces and the car hasn't been used for months so needs a good once over.
- The seats are in fantastic condition and were recovered shortly before I bought the car, they are lovely but the rest of the interior isn't great, the headlining dropped completely one summer weekend so was removed, door cards are a bit rough and ready etc.
- Should now be tax and MOT exempt as it is over 40 years old.
- Has had loads and loads of work over the years, some great, some terrible - this will never be a show winner but is a great use every day classic.
- My parts spend alone is in to the many thousands so if nothing else, this would be an incredible source of parts if you are restoring another Daimler/ Jaguar saloon.
- Located 10 minutes drive from the town of Atherstone in Warwickshire.
- 12 Former keepers and currently on 111k miles.
I bought this car in November 2020, I ended up completely rebuilding the engine to properly sort out a head gasket issue and a few other problems that the engine was presenting. I got the car back on the road in 2022 and used it as my daily classic, it ran pretty well and provided comfortable and reliable transport for a few hundred miles over the summer of '22 however (in the pictures you will see the large capacity aluminium radiator with twin fans to keep the car cool when sat in summer time traffic), the car was a running project and needed some tidy up jobs doing on the interior. It has been sat in my garage pretty well untouched since the winter of '22. Many other projects have come and gone in the meantime and I just keep on not making time for this car, I have given it a lot of thought but I just don't have the same enthusiasm for it anymore and I prefer either older Jaguar saloons or the more modern X300/ X308 cars.
I must stress that the car is not currently suitable to just jump in and drive away, it hasn't been used in months and wants a good inspection and the interior putting back together. That said, it does drive and stop ok and all essential electrical functions like indicators, brake lights and head lights (other than the windows which just need the switches plugging back in to work) all work fine.
