Description
This is a unique 'Bantam Bitsa Special'. 1957 D3 Frame and 1960's 175cc engine with the 3 speed box. It was built by its previous owner and has got Jawa wheels and brakes (superior to the BSA ones I’m told) plus no doubt various other bits from other bikes. You really need to see it in the flesh and make your own mind up about how it’s been created. It has no proper speedo (it’s got a pushbike one), it’s solid, no rust and the paintwork is pretty good. The 6 volt wiring all works but needs tidying up as it’s a bit of a dogs breakfast. Needs a bit of work to make it more easily useable. Has V5 and is registered as a Historic Vehicle. Has been garaged for over a year but was running when put away but will need recommissioning. I bought this from a dealer 3 years ago because of the way it looks and its quirky nature and as a nostalgic trip back to my 1970’s youth when I had a Bantam. At the time and in my total ignorance I didn’t realise it was a bitsa bike and only found out once I owned it and got input from others in the know. I used it off and on for for short local runs to the pub etc. but realised my somewhat larger frame now than when I was 17 doesn't really fit it anymore.
Now downsizing and need garage space so must go.
So if you are after a matching numbers classic then this is not for you. If you want a cheap useable classic that looks the part and you are prepared to do some fettling then its ideal.
