For sale is my 1965 Ford Thunderbird. It has the 6. 4 litre 390FE. 3 Speed Auto.
A very solid car. No rot anywhere. Starts on the button every time and no hesitation in driving it long distances.
V5 in my name. Ready to drive away.
Someone has wet and dried parts of the paint and clear coated it. Its better in person than the photos. Hasn't bothered me and apparently it is the original paint which of course is only original once.
Mechanically and structurally sound which is of course the most important bit. It sounds like a WW2 plane and is loud (as it should be!)
It has the 1965 year only swiping indicators. It also has the slideaway steering wheel. Has the original hubcaps in amazing condition. I have the spats for the rear wheels.
Power steering, front disc brakes. Halogen headlights. electric windows (which of course are intermittent as per all Tbirds of this era). I do have the expensive switch gear to go with the car (circa £350).
Not much paperwork of course but it does have the original manual.
I bought the car earlier this year as I always wanted to have an old 2 door big block car. Ive taken it to a bunch of shows over the summer. I feel I've scratched that itch now and would like to go back to having a truck again.
I bought it from someone who had it for 15 years and knows the history of the car back to when it was imported here in 1979. This is a list of the work they had completed since 2019.
new front discs/ callipers/ pads, rear shoes, a new master cylinder, new reservoir, and brake lines. a new low-pressure electric fuel pump. New starter motor. New alternator. New electronic ignition. New plugs/ leads/ coil. Exhaust manifold gaskets. Brand new 4-barrel Holley 650. New whitewall tires, correct size. Gearbox overhaul. External gearbox oil cooler. Sequential indicator motor rebuilt.
It is of course 59 years old and there will always be jobs that need sorting on a car of this age. Fuel gauge doesn't work. I put high octane in it when I drive it and dont let the tank run low. Speedo works.
All in all a very honest usable, jump in it and drive thunderbird. Welcome for any inspection. thanks!
