Description

2004 Suzuki Ignis Sport (Badged Swift as this is what they were badged in Japan)

The Suzuki Ignis Sport were built so Suzuki could enter the JWRC world rally.

For this they have to comfirm homologation by building so many units.

Hence why the Sport was born.

This example is not your usual run of mil Sport. It also has competition history. Its previous owner been Savage Motorsport who in the hands of Kevin Savage (considered one of the gurus of rally car prep) who ran the car in the 2021/ 22 Targa Rally Championships, winning both Championships back to back.

He then retired the car and built a new Ignis to replace it in red.

I purchased the car from him in October 2022.

In my ownership its had a cosmetic and mechanical transformations as follows.

The interior has been fully removed deep cleaned and is now prestine.

The bodykit has with the exception of the front bumper has been replaced, this was sourced from the Suzuki Ignis Page.

The kit was them colour matched using a camera to ensure perfect match all proffersionly painted in our bodyshop.

The complete underside, arches and behind bodykit has been coated in color matched blue raptor underbody protection.

Then coated with Lanoguard underbody protection.

The freshly painted kit was them refitted with new body clips from Suzuki.

The suspension has all been replaced with new BC COILOVERS but retaining a refurbished set of Sport rear springs to give correct ride height.

A new Gizfab Panard Bar added to track rear.

A new White Line rear ARB fitted.

This was all then laser alined along with front chamber bolts to sort front adjustment.

The brakes were all dealt with by BIG RED who specialise in caliper refurbishment.

The rear calipers are modified with Stenthened sections to allow the modified handbrake to operate on a rally stage. This also incorporates a ABS cut off switch under the dash.

Custom braided brake lines have been made all over except front to back to give fantastic brake pedal.

It goes with outsaying that discs and pads are all new but even the discs got some extra treatment been proffersionly painted on the edges etc as nothing worse than seeing a rusty brake disc.

With the brakes now fully sorted, wheels were needed.

As I have been restoring classic cars for over 30 years I have contacts with Revolution Motorsport.

They provided some 15" GR14 competition motorsport gravel alloys in white. The white lasted a week and 10 miles. Before been sent to Demon Wheels to be powdercoated in Suburu WRC Gold.

These wheels are the only set on an Sport in the UK even more unique in Gold.

The lamp pod one of two known in the UK imported from Japan thanks to Suzuki Facebook member. This was supplied unpainted with no lights. This is where fun begins as it should have 160mm PIAA lights but these are only available in HID at £248 each. So I have fitted 180mm PIAA fog and drive lights after bit of jingling about, this of course has been correctly wired up and painted to match.

The engine and gearbox are faultless having been maintained by Savage Motorsport and winning 2 Championships. I have done over 600 miles of both b road, general driving a motorway use since I completed the build.

I have also added a CUSCO front tower brace.

A new custom stainless steel rear exhaust box as been added as the mild steel version required for Targa Rally needed replacing.

The interior as mentioned before as shown in photos is in fantastic condition, I have fitted a double din Kenwood radio and upgraded the speakers, also adding a Empire Motorsport rear brace.

When the interior was out all the panels were teated behind with Lanoguard and some wax oil. A new set of custom SWT floor mats are included.

The graphics are all one off based on the 2004 JWRC rally car lot of research went into getting these right with slight twist in the colour to go with the blue and adding a nod to NOBUHIRO "MONSTER" TAJIMA who was the team manager at the time also king of the hill and owns, Monster motorsport. Plus little nod to Petter Solberg who brought home this very S10 Subaru Impreza, World Rally Car '555 WRC' to win the 2004 Rally Japan event.

This is a unique Suzuki Sport with genuine competition winning history which has had a no expense spared regenuvation to the car it is today. New parts
