Description

Hi all, selling my fiat uno 1. 7 diesel 3 door hatch non turbo model (very rare car), MOT until 2025 August, HPI clear and is mechanically perfect.

I brought this car originally for father to enjoy his classic but he has since another classic & is looking to raise fund for a family project hence reason for sell.

The car itself is mechanically perfect and comes with a stack of paper work most notable including service history book with all original booklets, and receipts for work done in last 2 decades.

I am currently using as a daily due to the car driving perfect and being great on mpg - about 55 to 65, on the classic cold diesel engine. My longest trip had been travelling from Poole to Gainborough which was over 200 miles, and took a little more than 3 gallons of fuel.

Most notable maintenance records of the car include new tyres all around, battery, campbelt done recently in winter of 2023, drive belt done in August 2024, serviced less than 1000 miles ago (and 3000 miles in its past)-though mileage will go up as its in daily use.

The engine bay is absolutely mint to the extent that one can eat their dinner off it, hence my original decision to purchase - a reliable classic car that can be used as a daily. Unsurpisingly it also sounds and runs silky smooth as proof of being well maintained. The gearbox and clutch is also in excellent condition with smooth gear changes. It is by no means a fast car, however it run sreliably well and torque in 5th interestingly comes nearer the higher end from around 65-70mpg. Also there is no oil leaks up, in or down or anywhere around the car - unlike many other examples, so you can expect a mechanically bullet proof car.

My unos red paintwork still shines brilliantly and is solid all round and especially underneath as I also had the car ramped up to check for any holes and rust, and safe to say only very minor surface rust was found, sills being solid, and it was greased up around the bakepipes presumably to underseal the car by the previous owner, who I presume had the car garaged whilst not in use. Service records also shown car had quite a few welding done to it up until 2023, and was maintained by the same garage for over 20 years - along with having had other bits fitted.

All pipes - including brake and coolant pipes and electricals were also checked with the uno to be fully working and the blower also works fine but no hot hair.

It does not come with sunroof thus no water leaks there or in any other place which is a bonus and that it does not come with power steering so it will help you build some muscle when turning the wheels.

As with all classics this is a running project and is by no means perfect, and typical to all unos there is the usual rust patches and a small hole around passenger door just below the windows, and minor patch of surface rust on the bottom side of driver and passenger door.

The interior is good condition & all original - and had seat cover for it for much of the time when in use. The dashboard lighting is all good with fuel gauge and speed gauge all working perfectly and accurately. It comes with 2 keys for fuel cap and 2 keys for doors also.

The car drives fairly straight and suspension is all tight with no knocks or other unwanted noises. It feels especially good as a fuel efficient go kart around the country side - second only to my renault 5, personally I would have preferred the power steering version but I guess each to their own.

Not much else to say but to note key works done in the last few years to demonstrate the car had been very well maintained - and a very rare example of it in the UK as there is less than 5 that I can find online (see pictures for details of receipts - all carried out at Southfield garage in Devon):
- 2023 June 26 - Cambelt, stone guard, MOT - £271
- 2021 June 29 - Adjust drive belt + MOT - £68
- 2020 July 9 - Pre MOT + MOT, level check, inner cv boot, oil topup, alt belt, inner sill welding (o/ s/ r), stone guard, rear axle break pipe replacement and bleed, repair connection to n/ s/ r lamp, adjust h/ lamp
- 2018 Jan 3 - Pre MOT, MOT, spill pipe replaced, stone guard, indicator repair (n/ s/ f), wiper refill - £161

Serious buyers are encouraged to check and test drive my uno yourself and/ or book into a garage to check on everything said above prior to buying as everything is genuine.

I am keen for this to go to a sincere individual who would enjoy and take care of my uno for the foreseeable future and drive/ enjoy it without reserve as it deserves to be driven and seen. Ideally I wish for a straight sale but can take a px offer and reasonable offer in general from serious buyers only. The car is garaged when not in use and driven every other day as a daily classic.

Any questions welcome to ask and serious buyers only please/ viewing by appointment at dn10 next to Gainsborough where I live or LS2 Leeds where I work. This particular uno had been very well maintained and was said to have been driven to Italy from UK over 10 times by the previous owner, with plenty of love and preventative maintenance done to it, as well as in my ownership, and needless to say had kept its worth as a reliable classic car workhorse as it had never broke down on the previous owner nor in my short ownership. After having done some research I must admit the uno is such a rare car in the UK, and rare still to find that is mechanically pristine as is this one - notably it would be a running project car as far as the minor cosmetic bodywork is concerned however as receipts had shown extensive work had been done to maintain it at a yearly basis. In my ownership I had driven from Poole to Gainsborough and regularly around the Yorkshire area with a trip to Norwich to sight see - and must admit it is as reliable as it is good on fuel, and is definitely a car to keep given its track record of strong reliability and quite interesting history plus how incredibly rare it is now to find one in the UK - just do a search yourself and you will know. Although of course I also in need of raising some money for family which sadly forces the sale.
