Description

From Australia, full history.
V rare RHD diesel.
Unmolested.
Interior good, body sound but will need minor panel repair.
Starts OK many spares. Needs minor work.
Other MBs also available.

Starting
It starts easily following an unusual method whereby you activate the starter switch and wait for a wire which is part of glow-plug circuit begin to glow behind a metal guard in the dashboard.
Once started, quickly settles into regular tick-over.
Clutch is quite light and first engages fine, pulls off with no thrust washer noise nor judder.
Interior
As you can see from the photos, the inside is totally un-molested, original and patinated. A few stains here and there.
There are a few wood inserts and cloth window edges that need re-fixing and if new is needed, these are available online.
Exterior
The exterior has a few areas on the roof that have peeling paint.
The running boards and door bottoms are showing corrosion but this is very heavy grade steel and its basically surface rust.
The LHS rear door appears to have been repaired but the filler is beginning to lift.
Both front mudguards have surface rust that I have removed with wire-brush and applied rust preventer and a 2k mastic to seal.
Tyres are cracked from age.
Sales
I’ve got 8 other Mercedes including G Wagon and SL500 I just feel like a change.
I’m not listing a price; those who know the value of the car will know it’s worth.

I will also swap, let me know what you have in mind. First registered in Australia in 1952 and used / stored until 2015 when it was imported into the UK.
I bought from the importer and applied for, and have now, got the V5C.
Full service history and much more. Membership of MB Victoria and various features and events attended by the previous owner.
The importer sourced the car via his contacts in Australia as a barn find (complete with boot-full of spares and period petrol can) with the idea of full restoration.
Work required for road-worthiness
What’s next is where work is needed; all 4 rubber brake hoses are perished and the pedal goes to the floor. I have bought these brand new. The handbrake does slow it and hold.
The other problem is that the exhaust manifold has snapped and the brazed repair has failed. These are about £250 online
