Description
In 2010 I started a company called H Van World to import, restore and convert Citroen H vans - at that time they were few and far between in the UK.
In 2020 we closed the company because we could not find any more H vans worth importing - any remaining good examples were hidden away.
Now retired, my interest in old Citroens continues, and earlier this year I found a rare long wheel base H van, with low mileage, which had been stored away whilst being worked upon, work which had stalled some while before.
But, what caught my attention, as well as the length of the van, was its incredibly sound original condition. The van had been kept in a workshop in the very far south of France where it had spent its working life taking flowers to market. Light use for a commercial vehicle! As well as that, the van had just 89, 200 kilometers recorded (55, 000 miles).
I could not resist! When initially imported, the van was not running and had no brakes...... this was all work that was, in theory, going to be finished by the French owner.
Since import to the UK, we have fitted replacement diesel pumps to the engine, fitted all new brakes, new drive shafts, a new metal rear wing (the old one was a bit bent!) and countless other parts.
The van now runs and drives well and has been UK registerd with all taxes etc paid. Ready to be used, so time for me to hunt for another project - if there is one! This rare long wheel base H van has lived a relaxed life in a lovely climate - shifting flowers wasn't too strenuous!
I have attached pictures of the chassis of the van because this is the most important thing to look out for on an H van - if the chassis has significant rot, walk away from the van because it simply wont be cost effective to repair it. We have now fitted a new rear load floor so you can be totally confident in this H lasting a long while if looked after.
The bodywork is incredibly sound and still in its original paint - yes, there are a few typical French dents and a few places where the paint is scratched, but it is SOLID, which is very rare.
This van could be converted into any kind of sales van or it would make an amazing day van or camper.
This H van is approximately 5m long which is about 1m longer than a standard length H van.
