Description

Right-hand drive. This 1974 Fontauto Hobbycar dune buggy, the only dune buggy officially approved and marketed by Volkswagen, has had three owners (including me). I bought it from a private individual and have used it for trips over the last few years. The car has original Volkswagen mechanics, fibreglass bodywork and includes the original white leather wraparound seats, as well as the Volkswagen emblem and Fontauto sticker of the time. Original black number plate of the time with MI lettering (as pictured) and original registration. Right-hand drive. For Sale: 1974 Dune Buggy Fontauto Hobbycar - The Only Volkswagen Approved and Marketed Dune Buggy I purchased this 1974 Fontauto Hobbycar dune buggy for a very specific reason: to own a piece of automotive history. It is the only dune buggy officially approved and marketed by Volkswagen, a true rarity in the dune buggy scene. From the first moment I saw it, I knew I was dealing with something special. This buggy embodies the freedom and adventure of the 1970s, a time when fun on four wheels was synonymous with carefreeness and innovation. What Makes it Unique This dune buggy stands out for its historical uniqueness: it is the only one approved by Volkswagen and sold through their official network. This model has a history that few vehicles can boast, which can also be seen on Wikipedia under Volkswagen. Made of fibreglass and built on an original Volkswagen platform, this buggy is not only beautiful to look at, but also reliable and durable, thanks to Volkswagen's famous mechanics. Produced in an extremely limited number, this Fontauto Hobbycar has a light and strong body, designed to tackle any type of terrain, from off-road to asphalt roads. Its design, with its classic bright yellow colour, catches the eye and immediately brings to mind the golden age of the dune buggy. Why I Bought It I bought this dune buggy for its historical value and timeless design. It is a car that is not just a collector's item, but a vehicle that you can actually use. During my travels, this buggy has given me unique sensations, with its dynamic driving and the attention it attracts everywhere. I have always taken good care of it, keeping it in excellent condition to ensure that it continues to be enjoyable and reliable. What I love about this car What I love best about this dune buggy is the sense of absolute freedom it conveys. Every time I have driven it, especially on summer trips, I have felt I was reliving the atmosphere of the 1970s. The open-top driving, the roar of the Volkswagen engine and the feeling of being in a vehicle that is as rare as it is iconic are priceless. What's more, it's amazing how much interest it arouses among enthusiasts and onlookers alike.
