For sale is my 1987 AW11, sunroof model, in 3E5 super red. We bought this car home in September of last year on a 13 hour journey after being garaged for ~12 years. It’s just clocked over 55k miles and has reams and reams of paperwork as pictured - please bare in mind that this is a very low mileage car considering its age of 37 years, averaging out to less than 1500 miles a year.
The underside, arches and sills are incredibly solid and rust free as can be seen in the images. I’ll grab some more photos of these in due time.
To pop it back on the road we’ve replaced -
Water pump
Timing belt
Fuel pump
All new fluids, air filter, oil filter and service
Brand new Toyo proxes
Paperwork for this can be obtained if need be, not an issue at all.
It drives absolutely perfectly, and hasn’t skipped a beat in the 1000 ish miles done since it’s MOT in April. There’s honestly not much more I can say about this as I’ve not had a single issue.
The car is mostly stock bar an aftermarket sound system and radio, the Momo steering wheel with a quick release, and an aftermarket gearknob. Stock gearknobs are easily obtainable for about £30, and I do have the stock steering wheel, however for any taller people this smaller aftermarket wheel is a better choice as the stock wheel leaves you with little legroom.
The only negatives I’d personally comment are that the wheels aren’t in the best condition, and there’s a small rust spot inside the boot. There’s also a small dent in the bonnet which will be pulled out before sale. The car was undersealed by the previous owner.
Unfortunately we weren’t informed by the previous owner of the car’s ’resting place’ which proved to be quite a struggle to access. Sadly this meant the car suffered some damage to the rear bumper as shown in the last photo - a replacement bumper is again easily obtainable for around £200, in my opinion this would be more worthwhile than repairing the current one.
I’m definitely open to reasonable offers but I do believe around £10, 000 is fair for its mileage, mechanical history and condition, you will be hard pressed to find many for sale on so few miles. For context I sold my previous AW11 on 96k miles back in November 2022 for £8500.
Viewing is available in South Oxfordshire pretty much any time, any day, and the car is taxed, insured and MOT’d so able to be test driven. We’re located a 10 minute walk away from a train station and are more than happy to collect prospective buyers from here if need be.
