2005 BMW E61 535d SE Touring
An exceptional, low mileage, high spec example
One previous owner
Enthusiast owned. I have been a BMW Car Member for over 42 years and have owned this car for over 4 years.
It has been mainly used by both its previous owner and me for easy, long distance European trips: Switzerland, southern France, northern Germany and Denmark.
This rarer SE spec (most are ‘Sports’) make this an extremely comfortable car with good economy for very long trips. I have done several, single-handed, 20 hours non-stop journeys from SW France to northern Germany in this car and it has never missed a beat and has been supremely comfortable.

WHEELS AND TYRES
The car comes with TWO sets of wheels and tyres:
1. Newly refurbished staggered 18” alloys with recent, near full tread Michelin Pilot Sport 5 245/ 40/ 18 front and BRAND NEW Falken FK510 275/ 35/ 18 rear
2. A set of 17” alloys (not refurbished but in good condition) with Vredestein
Winter tyres with good tread remaining
INTERIOR
Light sand full leather in very good condition, passenger and rear seats have been barely used.
The carpets and original overmats have always been protected by a set of good quality rubber over mats.
Very clean rear load space protected by a good quality rubber load protector.
Never smoked in or used to carry animals!
RECENT MAINTENANCE WORK
In addition to maintaining the prescribed service scheduling the car has had the following recent maintenance work:
Both thermostats replaced
New Glow Plugs (quite and involved and time consuming job on these cars! Will now not need to be done for a long time!)
New Glow Module
New updated Vortex valve
Inlet manifold cleaned - this looked to have been replace the previous owner with one of better quality even than the original BMW one as the swirl-flap mechanism is of a more robust aluminium type rather than the weak brass original type. It was also very clean anyway.
All swirl-flaps inspected and in perfect condition with no play, wear or looseness.
New inlet manifold gaskets
EGR valve thoroughly cleaned (removed to do this properly!)
PLEASE NOTE!
The swirl-flaps have NOT been removed - as some people who think they know better do - as this spoils the driveability of these engines at low speeds.
Additionally, the EGR valve has NOT been deleted as this is ILLEGAL in the E. U and carries an on-the-spot fine in Germany!
Finally, there are no (stupid) remaps on this car which again, in my opinion, spoil the drive and also place increased strain on gearboxes, final drives etc.
This car is plenty fast enough as standard - believe me!
The windscreen was replaced approximately two years ago and is nice and clear and damage free.

SUMMARY
I have owned over 50 BMWs in my time. This, as an all-round car, has been the best! The closest previously was an E39 540i Touring that I once had. But, this 535d Touring does everything that did, in even greater comfort and with far better economy!
I am only (sadly) selling it now as I am now retired, have too many cars and - possibly against my better judgement - have also just bought a 5-Series GT.
This 535d Touring is an extremely capable, well cared for car. It is NOT one of the usual high-mileage, tired or modified examples, like so many others.
