Description

Only 34, 000 recorded miles which I believe to be correct. Totally rust free, never been welded or restored. The underside is as clean as when it left the factory. It even has the original factory wiring clips in place. History: Imported back from Dallas, USA in 2015, where it had been in long term dry storage which explains why she is totally rust free and original. Purchased by a friend and fellow Jaguar enthusiast, in 2015 from the Agent of the previous owner who apparently was an avid classic car collector, who was returning to the USA. The mileage confirmed at the time as correct at 21, 000 by the previous owner but unfortunately I have no back up paperwork but I do have the Jaguar Heritage Certificate which confirms numbers, colour etc as built. The car is incredibly correct and original in all the important places and shows no signs of wear and tear or corrosion anywhere.. All this is commensurate with very low mileage and usage. Mechanics: Due to the length of time in long term storage, when the engine was started it spilled oil out of every available orifice and seal. It was stripped down and inspected by a highly regarded Jaguar specialist, and found to be completely standard with no noticeable wear anywhere, especially the bores which had no wear lip, again a very positive indication of low mileage. The engine was then completely rebuilt to standard specification and only required shells, rings, water pump, timing chains, oil pump and a full gasket set. The cylinder head was stripped, again no noticeable wear at all, and rebuilt to standard spec, and a new clutch assembly fitted. The rest of the car was sympathetically recommissioned, with a right hand drive conversion, and the fitting of three brand new Burlen SU standard spec carbs and airbox. High ratio 3. 31 diff,. 5 new chromed wire wheels and period Dunlop SP Sport tyres , and a compete new exhaust system and manifold. Interior: Due to the heat and inactivity the leather seats were badly cracked and like cardboard so new seat covers and carpets were fitted along with a new duck down hood. Dashboard and interior fittings were all fine and left original. Body: Looked lovely from 6 feet away but on close inspection the paint was very flat and there were signs of historic remedial paintwork to the off side rear wing, it was slightly off colour and a bit too shiny. The old original paintwork would polish up but lost its shine within a few weeks. More importantly, there were no signs of corrosion anywhere on what I believe was factory paintwork. I purchased the car in 2021. I immediately had it inspected by a highly regarded local classic Jaguar specialist. They were extremely complimentary about the car's originality, overall condition and the way the car drove and handled on the road, however a few minor jobs were need which I had done. I also had the speedo and rev counter recalibrated for the 3. 31 diff and the new 123 electronic distributor. I couldn't live with the dull paint so I had her flatted and repainted in original factory colour in 2022. Everything that could be taken off, was taken off. I am a perfectionist and the quality of the paintwork is just so.. If you want what is probably the most original unmolested and I believe the lowest mileage E-Type convertible, please come and have a really good look and make your own mind up. Genuine reason for sale by private collector. I have built up a number of classics in my collection over the last fifty years but it is now time for someone else to enjoy them as I have over the years, having made a conscious decision to reduce the number to just a few, so I am slowly re homing them. Incredible condition with a lovely unusual colour combination - never ceases to attract admiring glances and comments wherever we take her. She is also a very genuine, unrestored, sound and rust free E Type.
