Perfect candidate for Pre-63 / Period E - FIA Circuit Racing
1961 TVR Grantura / MG
I have for sale a 1961 TVR Grantura which was raced throughout the 1961 season by John Woolfe in a number of International races during 1961. Race entries included the British Grand Prix race meeting at Aintree and the British Empire Trophy meeting at Silverstone, plus other International races at Brands Hatch and at the International Fordwater Trophy at Goodwood.
Other drivers in the same races included Graham Hill, Roy Salvadori, Bruce McLaren and Stirling Moss.
It is a genuine original factory Lightweight car.
Running and driving, totally complete and very original.

The car was prepared for competition some years ago and was at that time issued an FIA passport. But the owner had a change of heart and has since been dry stored and unused.
1226 RO is now back in my workshop and after some checking over the MG 1622cc engine runs very nicely and with excellent oil pressure.
Gears change well and everything seems to be working.
Underside appears to be in an excellent condition. Clearly the car has been dismantled, cleaned and with many parts replaced in readiness for competition, and with no signs of rust.
With only 53, 000 miles showing on the speedometer, I would think likely this car has rarely been outside in the weather.
A small amount of work to check things over, new tyres and a new battery and the car could be ready to be used again.
Importantly, this car would be eligible for all the very best historic race meetings including the Goodwood Revival if that might interest you. Perfect for Pre-63 grids and equally eligible for period E / 1950’s grids.
I have on-file lots of history and many period photographs.
I also have the DVLA Registration document and has been registered in my name for many years.
Comes with the original 1226 RO number plate.
I also have a "brand new" original shape bonnet which is included in the sale.
Correct and (genuine) original historic race cars with such a fine International pedigree and in super original condition rarely come on the market.
Obviously this car will be very eligible to take part in all of the best high profile events and I think this is very realistically priced at £45, 000 (UK Pounds)
I personally no longer race cars nor compete myself and therefore am offering the opportunity for a sale, or possible trade either up or down for something else which may be of more interest to me.
