Here is my fantastic 1949 Tiger 100, Despatched to Barton Motors, Bristol on the 2nd August 1949 the bike retains the original registration, engine and frame, matching factory records. The gearbox however, is not the original. I bought this from a private collection April 2022. It had been sat in a barn in France for some time so I had to recommission it. Sadly, whilst in the barn, a beam fell from the rafters and dented the tank! I've come to live with this as part of its history, A good metal worker could possibly pull the dent, it's not something I've had quoted or looked at. The bike has 5 former keepers and I have the V5 in my name, registered as historic.
I have had the BTH magneto fully rebuilt by Chip in Letchworth garden city, auto advance fitted so no timing adjustments needed. I have also fitted a new (from amal), later (superior, monobloc) carburettor, as the old one was beyond saving. I have also replaced the clutch pressure plate, clutch pushrod, HT leads and tyres. Among other things that escape me right now, the usual servicing has been undertaken, oil, plugs etc. I have fitted LED bulbs throughout to take the load off the charging system, and a new battery. I have ridden this bike at night quite a few times and the LED bulb is a ten fold improvement! It has a few negatives, the dent in the tank, and the trip meter reset on the smiths speedo does not work, the odometer does however. I think only full beam works. I can't quite remember. Always gets a good reception wherever I go with it, and it has been used, not stashed at the back of a garage gathering gremlins. Lovely looking bike, and first year of the Triumph Nacelle.
All in all, a great riding machine that takes you back in time, I love it, but I have 2 other Triumphs of this era, and I think one is enough! Help me thin the herd.
