Description
Chassis No. 7000. Engine No. S2825
Purchased it in 2014. It was road legal and drivable but I decided to carry out a comprehensive check of the mechanical, electrical and the body accessories. I then arranged for a professional body restorer (has prepared cars for Coy’s Auctions in London), to complete a full body restoration. All body parts were removed, mechanically stripped and then bead blasted to remove all paint. The aluminium was found to be in very good condition throughout. After the extensive preparation it was finally resprayed in a metallic silver-blue to a superb finish that has attracted much appreciation. The interior was refitted in red leather by a retired car interior fitter who spent 46 years with Rolls Royce.
Other works include: unleaded head conversion, radiator professionally cleaned & pressure tested, stainless steel exhaust 4:2:1, updated screw-on oil filter assembly, shock absorbers reconditioned, new headlights and all chrome items replaced/ re-plated. Includes a full waterproof hood, c/ w side-screens & full tonneau cover. The car is very reliable and runs well with the temperature never exceeding an indicated 60-70C.
Selling due to health reasons. This is a FUN car to drive. Not only does it receive lots of admiration when parked up, but also lots of thumbs-up's when driving. It may look a little old fashioned to some, but I can assure you that it is a "wolf in sheep's clothing". The stainless steel 4:2:1 manifold & exhaust emit a tuneful rendition when driving in a spirited fashion!! The twin cam engine was made for revving. Of the 110 cars produced, 10 when to Connaught as single seaters to be used for racing, reaching speeds of over 100 mph. In road going form, the car is capable of a maximum speed of 89 mph. (I've never been brave enough to try it)!!
There is an active Lea Francis Owners Club to those who would like to attend the many events programmed each year. Support & spares are available to club members via a technical website.
