Triumph 5/ 10 Sports for sale;
exceptionally rare machine; supplied to Knott Bros of Bournemouth in May 1937; original registration; fitted with Kick Starter and STD Ratio gears plus a TT Carb; also fitted with a later 1954 Triumph T110 front brake so it stops well; Single Port Head; box file of paperwork with it;starts easily; runs and rides very well indeed, great fun too; really very well sorted; not purist correct but stunning to look at and find another
Production Years: 1934 to 1936, Designed, and sold, as a racer the 5/ 10, or Mark 10, was the top of the range machine when it was introduced for the 1935 model year. It survived the initial cull of machines for the 1936 model year, but it never made it any further., A 500cc Twin Port OHV Special Sports machine it was fitted with an engine constructed to withstand prolonged periods of "all-out". It had a Duplex cradle frame giving a low centre of gravity with only 4 inches ground clearance. It could be supplied with TT or standard close ratio gears, and with or without a kickstarter. It was renowned for its splendid steering qualities. The engine had high grade forged disc flywheels fitted with a steel alloy connecting rod. Lightened parts included the tappets, push rods, and overhead rockers. Lubrication was by dry sump system. It came with a 7 pint (UK) oil tank. The chain case was an Elektron oil bath type. Usual compression was 7:1 but it also came with 7. 7:1 pistons for use with a "50/ 50" mixture. 10:1 "dope" pistons could be supplied extra.
