Buick Serie 40 Cabrio Van Den Plas Carroserie Bruxelles (VDP) is, from the beginning of the 20th century until the end of the 30s, one of the most exclusive coachbuilders from Europe, do not confuse it with Vanden Plas UK, both have identical roots, although the British one will have a longer life
extensive, with a larger production, even small series.

The only 1937 Buick Van den Plas Cabrio exist. VDP Bruxelles barely produced 10-15 bodies year at the end of the 30th, completely handmade of different brands or models.
This Buick, in addition to sporting a unique body (only this one was manufactured in 37th), made by one of the best coachbuilders in Europe.
It has another rarity on its manufacturing plate, and that is its manufacturing in Anwerp (Assembly in CKD at the GM plant).
It is unknown the exact date on which the vehicle arrived in Spain is currently being investigated. What is certain is that at the beginning of 1939 the car was already in our country.
From that date until 1944, several photographs attest to his belonging to the Headquarters of the State, there are several photos from official agencies (EFE) and books, which show the car with General Francisco Franco, or with some high command of his staff, as described in the photo captions.
From 1945-47, the Spanish government began to sympathize with the United States, which is why it began to have access to USA material modern.
The car remained in the government until 1958, when it was already an old and obsolete car. Like many other cars of the
different Spanish ministries, it is auctioned that year and acquired by its previous owner (Pedro R).
From 1958 to 1968, Pedro was in charge of painting it and leaving it in working order, using it on rare occasions, and not touring
more than 1, 000 km. until 2014. During this time, its owner was in charge of preserving it and plucking it periodically.
He finally passed away in 2013. In 2014 the new owner put it back into circulation doing full engine tune-up and complete body restoration. The leather seats and interior wooden works are the original.
