Packard Clipper Custom 2 Door Coupe, Automatic, 1956 in Tangier Red and White. arrived here in UK in 2013. This is 1 of the 2 Two Door Pillarless Hardtop Coupes in UK . Only 1466 Custom Hardtops were made in 1956, finishing production of the Packard in July 56, so only made for a few months. Known as the Last Packards before taken over by Studebaker. The 352 cu in V8 burbles lovely with its recent cherry Bomb Exhausts, also new shocks have been fitted. These beautifully built Packards gave the overrated Cadillacs and Lincolns a run for their money in the 50s, better engineered, smoother ride and faster. There is a water leak from engine, not sure if its core plugs (comes with car), We have not got around to investigating it yet. So will need a trailer to remove. It drove lovely and sounded awesome and looks a million dollars with the pillarless windows down. These are the tail lights that every custom car/ hot rodder wanted. Underneath is as solid as a bridge, RARE Original hubcaps, original radio and power Antenna. Inside is original in red and black, the front bench seat drivers seat needs work as there is a hole in base, the red headling needs a little stitching in two small places. All lights work as they should and the Jewellery dashboard is just beautiful. These Packards were better build quality than Cadillac, and a smoother ride as these have Torsion Bar Suspension/ Self Levelling Suspension. These Clippers never had a Packard Badge, they were a different division from Packard, although built by Packard in the Packard Factory. I really did not think i would get around to selling this due to its Rarity, but storage space is no longer available , returning back to the Vintage Motorcycle scene which is far more friendly and non back stabbing, so a 1949/ 50 Triumph Sprung Hub Thunderbird or anything back to the 1930s, must be British though, would be tempting. This car is rare in USA and is priced by a Packard Expert to whom gave the car a thorough inspection. So any crazy offers will be laughed at and ignored. A boot full of spares including original carb and air cleaner, rare and original flying saucer wing mirrors. I have import papers, documents, books and parts list, V5 Reg document in my name, with original keys and black cover.
