If anyone is interested in a Ro80 restoration project, I have these two which I’d like to see go as a pair. Despite the looks, the brown / primer coloured one is in my opinion the better car. And whilst there will be ‘some’ welding required. It’s good in the important places, sills chassis rails etc. This one I think is deserving of being rebuilt. It would appear to be an unfinished project as someone at some point did a lot of work with a view to getting it repainted. It has an NSU engine which they’ve obviously taken steps to protect.
The blue car has a Mazda 13B conversion and is mostly complete. The top is missing from the carburettor and there’s no spark so I have not started it. Although it spins over and appears to have compression. I would personally leave the NSU engine in the brown car, and sell the 13B engine to recover some funds.
It’s all stuff I could do but that magic ingredient “Time” is the issue and I’d rather see someone else do something with them.
I have replated nut / bolts / brackets etc for the Ro80 and would be happy to include a set of these to help to buyer with the project. And anything else (within reason) that may be missing. I have been involved with Ro80’s for most of my life! And I’ll be happy to assist the buyer with required advice etc. There is now very good parts availability for the Ro80, with the Ro80 Club International reproducing more and more previously unobtainable parts.
The are a number of U. K. Ro80’s on the road which I know for a fact, are structurally no where near as good as that brown car. I’d certainly prefer to start with this a basis rather than a patched / rotten car.
£2000 for the pair
