THE TYRES FITTED ON THE CAR HAVE PLENTY TREAD REMAINING. SINCE THE SAID RESTORATION THE CAR HAS COVERED VERY LITTLE MILES.

THE INTERIOR IS ALSO IN GOOD ORDER, ORIGINAL, CLEAN AND UNCLUTTERED. THERE ARE NO TEARS, UNSIGHTLY SCUFFS OR MARKS, SIGNS OF WEAR OR DISCOLORATION. ALL IS IN TACT, FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED, COMFORTABLE AND PLEASANT TO THE EYE.
THE FULLY GALVANISED CHASSIS AND UNDERCARRIAGE IS CLEAN AND SOLID IN ALL AREAS, AS ARE THE FLOOR PANS ETC. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ROT/ RUST ANYWHERE.

THANK YOU. THE LOTUS EXCEL IS A SPORTS CAR DESIGNED AND BUILT BY LOTUS CARS FROM 1982 TO 1992. IT IS BASED ON THE DESIGN OF THE EARLIER LOTUS ECLAT. LAUNCHED IN OCTOBER 1982, THE EXCEL RECEIVED TWO MAJOR UPGRADES DURING ITS 10 YEAR PRODUCTION RUN. WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE EXCEL SE IN OCTOBER 1985, THE BUMPERS, WING AND INTERIOR WERE CHANGED INCLUDING A NEW DASH BOARD. THE BODY WAS MADE FROM VACUUM INJECTED RESIN AND WAS MADE IN UPPER AND LOWER HALVES WHICH WERE JOINTED TOGETHER, EVIDENT FROM THE BLACK WAIST TRIM AROUND THE CAR. THE BODY, MOUNTED ONTO A GALVANIZED STEEL BACK BONE CHASSIS. THIS MANUFACTURING PROCESS GAVE THE CAR A GREAT LEVEL OF STRUCTURAL RIGIDITY.
THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM CONSISTED OF A SINGLE TRANSVERSE LOWER ARM COUPLED WITH AN ANTI-ROLL BAR AND A WISHBONE ABOVE THE LOWER ARM AT THE FRONT WHILE AT THE REAR THE WISHBONE WAS MOUNTED BELOW THE TRANSVERSE LINKS. COIL SPRINGS AND DAMPERS WERE USED THROUGHOUT. THE EXCEL IS KNOWN FOR ITS EXCELLENT CORNERING AND HANDLING DUE TO 50:50 WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION.
