Description

This Revival Motorsport Jaguar D-Type Evocation was originally built by Mr. John Arnold and his team between 2001/ 2002, it is one of a very small number built for a gentleman's race series and bears the chassis number 002. Mileage 5529 miles.
These D-Types were based on the original 50's Jaguar D-Type but with John Arnold's experience with Jaguar competition cars, this allowed Revival to produce a replica that retained all the character of the original but with the durability, reliability and handling of a modern day car.
A composite body clothes a tubular chassis with wishbone suspension and coilovers at each corner, a 4. 2 litre, 300bhp, Rob Beere Racing straight six XK engine neatly slots in up front. This is coupled, via a Tilton twin-plate rally specification clutch, to a Getrag close-ratio five speed gearbox and a Salisbury 3. 31 Power Lock differential. This incredible combination of power and engineering, makes driving this vehicle an absolute pleasure.
The interior is trimmed in a contrasting green leather, the seats are a retro looking padded, semi bucket style with hip/ thigh support pads Velcro'd into place. The steering wheel is a large retro chrome design with a twin wooden rim. A small alloy gear lever sits on top of the transmission tunnel and in front of this, sits a substantial rev counter. The dash is littered with oil, temperature and fuel gauges, a speedometer and a sprinkling of warning lights finish this off to make the 1950's look and complement the patina of this D-Type Jaguar.
Built as a pure track day vehicle this D-Type was extremely competitive with the help of the McLaren team, at that time, attending to the running and suspension set-up.
Since its track day times and racing pedigree, this D-Type has been fitted with a milder set of Cams and 45 Triple Webers, tuned by Trident Motor Services in Hertfordshire

Owner’s notes:
Professionally built around 2001 by John Arnold of Revival Motorsport for a single make race series, this being chassis number 2 of around 18 cars produced. They were built to be a close and faithful representation of the original D-Types. Powered by a Jaguar XK straight-6 4. 2L engine provided by Rob Beere Racing and driving through a 5-speed manual gearbox to a LSD rear differential. Unlike the original cars these have an IRS rear axle to improve handling, and disc brake all round.
When I bought the car a few years ago I returned it to Revival Motorsport and had it checked over and serviced just to make sure everything was as it should be. It provides a unique and wonderful "not for the faint hearted" driving experience and attracts much attention wherever it goes.
