Description
The 1800ES was the final evolution of the classic P1800 line of cars and evolved the coupe into this beautiful shooting brake design. Only 8, 077 ES’s were built in total and in the UK about 60 remain on the road today so they are a rare site, with the bulletproof B20 engine, these are useable everyday.
This much loved car is chassis number 29, completed in September 1971, and was the second 1800ES sold in the UK. Delivered through Marlow and first registered in November 1971. It spent its early years in Yorkshire, originally painted in gold.
From 1978-81 the vehicle was extensively renovated with new chromework and a full respray to the red colour seen today, original Wolfrace wheels and sunroof fitted. The history file includes an insurance valuation assessment in 1983 highlighting the excellent quality of the renovations. It appears at this time the mileage was reset and since that time the car has covered just 15, 467 miles.

2024 – New oil pressure hose
2023 – Full ceramic coating of exterior at professional detailer to give a beautiful and easy to maintain exterior finish.
2022 – New HT leads, points, condenser, distributor cap/ rotor arm and spark plugs. Injection system healthcheck, new air filter, new battery
2021 – complete suspension refurbishment with new shocks, springs, trailing arms and bushes all round, providing a massive improvement to ride and handling. Rear diff gasket replaced and diff cover repainted
2020 – Alternator rebuild, heater control valve replaced, new coolant & oil temp sensors
2019 – Brake rebuild: lines, hoses, calipers reconditioned, discs machined. Fuel injector service
2018 – New fuel pump, fuel filters, water pump & thermostat'Rosie' is a distinctive car and a rare site, appreciated where ever she goes and always gets comments whether at a show or in the supermarket car park.
The drive is easy, the ride relaxing and with robust mechanicals this car can be used on a daily basis. Parts are easily found and the Volvo community always helpful with advice making the ownership experience.
Growing children and health issues mean that reluctantly it is now time for 'Rosie' to move on to the next phase in her life and to be loved and cherished by someone new.
