Description
I’m selling my rather special Discovery 3. One of 36 press cars used when LR launched the Discovery 3 in Scotland at Ackergill estate in late August 2004.
Driven by the world’s press the 36 cars were used over the 6 week launch after which returning to the factory where most would be scrapped! 9 of the cars survived including this one and were sold to Bowler Motorsport who would use them as rally support cars for the Wildcat teams.
This car was not used as a support vehicle, instead it was selected to become the personal transport for Drew Bowler’s father and led a sedate, cosseted life which is apparent from it’s low mileage and condition today.
Staying with Drew’s father until 2016 the car then passed to an enthusiast collection and it’s next exciting phase when Jaguar Land Rover flew the car to china to take part in launch celebrations for the new Discovery 5! On returning to the UK from the press launch the D3 was fully serviced in the JLR Classic Works Department - the first Land Rover product to pass through the new facility, (the service book is stamped!)
The car passed through 2 more enthusiasts before I purchased and has been featured in magazines and recently returned as a VIP to the JLR factory as part of a staff member retirement, (sun visor is signed and correspondence on file.)
So, a lovely, rare piece of Land Rover history, presented in super condition suitable for gentle everyday use or as a collector/ investment car.
Meticulously maintained and recently serviced.
