Description
Restored original UK Right Hand drive to fast road specification.
828 miles since nut and bolt restoration with new custom engine by Datsun Spirit (mileage may increase slightly until sold).
Resprayed in the original factory metallic blue.
Resides in a heated, dry garage all year round.
The car was one of the last 240Z's made in 1973 before the transition to 260Z.
I've owned it for over 10 years, and have been tweaking it continually.
Some of the improvements:
- 3. 0 Litre Stroker custom engine by Eiji from Datsun Spirit in the USA. This is designed for a balance of reliability, torque and power. Lighter weight components and balanced. Everything was weighed to match it up during assembly. Based on the L28 with N42 head, which was worked on to give nice flow to match the triple Webers, making it very responsive and powerful, but easy enough to drive in traffic. The ignition is of course electronic, as is the fuel pump which is regulated.
- Timing adjustable with Kameari Adjustable Cam Pulley Sprocket Gear. Weber carbs set up by Clive Atthow in Norwich on his rolling Road.
- Recent Quaife limited slip diff which has transformed handling especially on launch - much stronger than the R180 differential mod.
- Recent CV joint upgrade which has made power delivery a lot smoother than the original UJ's. Can't believe I didn't do this earlier.
- Gearbox reconditioned and still a little stiff but it's gradually loosening up as it should.
- Slightly widened track but without the ugly arch mod.
- Brand new front fenders and some other bits, apparently the last from Nissan.
- Chassis stiffened up for rally or track without affecting the look of the bay almost invisible.
- GAZ Suspension.
- The fuel tank is coated inside and out with POR15.
- Any hollow parts of the chassis have been treated with Dinitrol.
- Upgraded brakes by Fourways.
- Band new interior leather and linings.
- Full stainless steel exhaust, with Zircotech ceramic coat and louvered bonnet flaps to keep things cool.
- Alu radiator with electric fan, and electric fuel pump.
- Seats retrimmed with new leather, and the interior headlining and plastic bits have all been replaced.
- Bad dog frame rails added which have really stiffened up the car to handle the extra power, plus minor reinforcements by Geoff from Fourways Engineering to make it similar to his personal cars and stiffening the whole chassis in general.
- Corners nicely, anti rollbar set from the late Mike Feeney, slightly but not excessively widened track, etc.
A fun car to own with a "classic feel" responsive, naturally aspirated engine, more power than original, but without marring the originality of these brilliant cars.
You are welcome to come and have a look and I'd prefer serious buyers.
I'm selling it because I'm getting a special made. I am not in any rush as the special will take some time to complete.
Thanks for looking.
