1952 Daimler Consort, DB18 – Registration MXY238
This 1952 Daimler Consort is a classic saloon car with a semi-automatic transmission and right-hand drive. It is registered as an Historic Vehicle and is therefore exempt Road Tax and MoT. It has a 2. 5Ltr 6-cylinder engine and comes in black exterior and red interior colours.
Acquired in Leeds in 2007 as part exchange for a 1950 Ford Prefect E493; the car is largely original; the front wings have been repaired and the headliner has been replaced. Mechanically the car is maintained to the original specifications, all items are fully functional including the semaphores, which are used. The vehicle is Road Tax and MoT exempt and is in regular use for family days out, trips away, friend’s weddings and just for fun.
Vehicle Boasts: Original factory fitted; Cabin Heater with electric blower, Electric Windscreen Wipers, Valve Radio (internally modified for AM/ FM), and Self-Oiler System for Suspension components, 3 pre-fitted Vehicle Jacks, one behind each rear wheel and one at the front of the car centrally mounted behind the number plate. It is fitted with a stainless-steel exhaust system.
The car is largely original and is in good condition, it is not concourse. The headliner has been replaced and the front wings have been repaired. The body is good, much of the paintwork is original and has what we like to think of as a 72-year patination, in human terms its laughter lines are showing. The Air Silencer has been painted; these cars were not fitted with an Air Filter. Apart from necessary repairs, the engine and ancillaries are the original factory fitted items. The cylinder head gasket was replaced in July 2018; it had ‘blown’ between cylinders 1 & 2. The vehicle is still fitted with a 240v engine pre-heater system; this is fully operational but is not used these days for safety reasons, and because we now have good quality anti-freeze!
