Description

1924 Morris Oxford Cabriolet - 14/ 28 1802cc

Due to loosing storage space I have to part ways with MO.
The Oxford was the luxury version of the Morris Bullnose car and had the larger 1802cc 14/ 28 engine coupled to a 3 speed 'crash' gearbox (no synchromesh in any gear). This 4 seat cabriolet version with wind down windows all around is one of the rarest derivatives with a factory built body available from 1923/ 4. My car sports the Morris Oxford 'MO' factory registration number and was believed to have been built and registered for display at the Porto motor show in 1924.

I believe this is 1 of only 3 factory bodied cabrios known to the Morris Bullnose Register, with this one being the earliest surviving example (but I stand to be corrected if I’m wrong).
Body, chassis, running gear in fabulous condition with professional coach painted body looking superb. It spent it's early life on the Isle of Mull where it was owned by the postmaster and was later restored to a very high standard in the 1990s in Scotland with a lot of support from the Bullnose Register to get it period correct in every way possible. The paint finish is superb, having been traditionally coach painted by a professional in Lincolnshire (their plate is evident in one of the door shuts).

Engine is strong with good oil pressure. I de-coked it and removed/ cleaned the sump last year and have lots of photos of the internals on view when I did it. Last year also flushed the coolant and replaced, full service carried out too. Recently replaced the dynamotor and magneto with refurb units from Cooke’s (renowned Bullnose specialists).

To be perfect she needs: engine paint and engine bay tidy up; charge cut-out not working; carb butterfly spindle has minor leak (I have the new spindle and bush kit for it).
She was in use last year, but sat in storage during 2024 so will need a minor check over before heading to the roads.
Please message me for more info and I can give you a link to a massive dropbox folder of photos.
