Description
This is a classic 1969 Early Bay. LHD imported from California in 2011 when bodywork was overhauled, the solid chassis was undersealed and it was resprayed in a modern equivalent of 'Old English White'. The restoration included a rebuild of the engine with new pistons, barrels and bearings. (Mileage 36334) It was also fitted with a stainless steel sports exhaust, electronic distributor, an EMPI Hurst shifter plus chromed stainless steel bumpers. The interior was fully redone with new door cards, headlining and rock 'n roll bed.
In 2016 it was fitted with a new Gear linkage, Gearbox, Clutch, driveshaft joints, rear shocks, complete electronic ignition system, Oil Cooler, new original carb & Manifold, reconditioned Steering Box. It has been fitted with a Fire Suppression system
This Early bay has been used as a wedding car since 2016 by myself and the 2 previous owners with the rear comprising of a rock 'n roll bed, plus 2 buddy seats.
It has recently been serviced and a slight oil leak repaired being caused by 3 oil strainer sump bolts, which have been rethreaded.
There is a little pickling on the bodywork and a crack in the paintwork behind the front badge. There is some mild pitting in the door handle chromework. Overall is in great condition with the stainless polished tinwork making the engine bay pop.'Happy' (plate is APY) is a lovely example but I am reducing my wedding bookings now and using my other vehicle only, so sadly putting up for sale as I have barely driven it in the last year.
It has never let me down and starts on the button.
It would not require much work to convert to a camper if that is what a new owner required. There is a large file of history available.
